    QUESTION Limit 4 like coupons?

    I just got back from the store, and the cashier told me, as she was ringing me in;

"You know I can only accept 4 of those coupons, right? It's the new policy."

After having her stop so I could break my order down into a couple smaller transactions (which I really didn't want to do, for laziness sake), It all went through fine... She couldn't tell me -why- they'd changed the policy, other than "they've been getting a lot of people watching that show and cleaning us out all the time, I guess".... This doesn't sound like an informed answer to me, but have any of you run into this problem? The wording on coupons did NOT specify any limit, this was purely a store enforced limit of 4 like q's per transaction.

When accepting coupons, Meijer uses the following guidelines:

We accept two kinds of coupons; Meijer issued coupons and manufacturer coupons.
*Only one manufacturer coupon and one Meijer coupon for the same item will be accepted (unless prohibited).
*Mealbox coupons are considered Meijer coupons.

We accept all valid internet coupons. See store for details.

We reserve the right to limit quantities.

If the value of the coupon is more than the price of the item after discounts or coupons are applied, the value of the coupon will be applied up to the price of the item.

We do not apply the excess value of a coupon to the order total if the value of the coupon is over the price of the item after discounts or coupons are applied.

Only coupons for products carried in our stores will be accepted.

All coupons should be given to the cashier while you're checking out and cannot be applied to a previous purchase.

This is what the coupon policy says that is currently posted on their website. It doesn't say anything about a limit of four like coupons. Maybe it's a policy that your store has adopted itself, if they are allowed to do that. Or maybe it's just something the cashier got into her head because she saw the limit of four restriction on a P&G coupon.

I haven't had that problem but it is possible that it is a new policy that is just now being implemented and the written policy hasn't been changed yet to reflect it. Rite-Aid's coupon policy now has a restriction of only four like coupons per transaction. But their explanation is that the clearinghouse was refusing to reimburse them for large quantities of the same coupon in one transaction and went as far as to imply that Rite-Aid was guilty of fraudulent coupon redemption by mass cutting.

I would would call and ask to speak to a manager, and if you don't feel your question was answered you can send an email to corporate. I emailed them several years ago when I was having problems with Mealbox coupons. They did take the time to directly answer my email.

"We reserve the right to limit quantities". This is where they get us...I was told by Roland (Mason, MI) that he would only allow me to use four IPs since most of them have a limit of two and implied that I was doing something illigal by taking IPs from family members that print them off for me and printing two off each of my five computers in my home. He even told me that he would NOT accept them if I broke my orders up into several transaction or if I left the store and came back in. I have not yet run into a limit of four MQs though unless it states a limit on the Q itself. I will ask/see when I go shopping this weekend and update you all on what the Meijer here in Mason is doing or not doing.

I was told this week at the Meijer Lafayette store that they only accept 6 like coupons, however I went on Sunday-was not told this and used more than 6 tuna coupons and then on Wednesday, was told this. The cashier said, "oh it must have been a newer cashier" Well I don't care if it was a new, old, whatever, just so it's the same across the board.
Homeschool mom to 3 great kids. Couponing for some time now and I love saving my family money!! Here's my wishlist

Totally agree with you there! I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone at the store about it. We don't have a large family (or house!) so I don't often use more than 4 or 5 like coupons anyway... but it would be nice to know if it's a firm limit around here or not.

They are in business to sell, so to me this doesn't make sense for her to say something like this. And the fact that she says I guess, she should know and if not then call for a supervisor that does know. Meijers is a large retailer with many distribution centers, if they indeed sell out that is what rain checks are for.

"they've been getting a lot of people watching that show and cleaning us out all the time, I guess"

It is their sales that pay her paycheck, not all people watch "the show", I for one have never watched it, must say I have read many bad things about it and how some use coupons in the wrong way.

I do appreciate your post so that I will be "Heads Up" just in case.
