I was at my usual Meijer today, for the first time this year, and found that the self-checkout lines were not accepting the new GS1 Databar coupons. This was at the Southfield, MI (Telegraph) location. The attendant had to hand enter the coupons. Older ones with UPC codes worked just fine.
Has anyone else experienced problems with the self checkout lines and the new coupons?
Thanks!
I have problems with the registers not accepting coupons quite a bit. But for me it's random and not the new bar-codes. Is it possible that the random thing happened to you and that just by coincidence it happened to a coupon with the new bar-code? Or did you have other coupons with the new bar-code on different things that weren't accepted either? I know I've used the new coupons at Meijer before with no problems, but I haven't been to Meijer in the new year yet.
Now Wal-Mart has some issues. I don't remember what the coupons were for but a couple weeks ago I had problems with coupons that only had the new bar-code. The cashier had to enter them in by hand and said she wished that would fix that because the registers weren't accepting any of the new coupons, or even acting like they could read them. They would make the beep sound when you scan them but it wouldn't deduct the amount, or give a message about not accepting them because the price limit was reached or it couldn't find a matching item; it just wouldn't do anything.
