Meijer ~ Question: Catalina coupons at the self checkout

Ok, I have a question for those of you who use both checkers and self checkout. Do you get more catalina coupons at the self checkout than you do if you checkout in a lane with a store checker? The reason I am asking is my husband went through the self checkout( which I rarely use because I have a lot of coupons) and he came out with at least 6 catalina coupons for $5/$40, $2 off of $10 produce purchase, $2 off $10 meat purchase, and several other items that he came out with coupons for. When I check out using a checker, I usually only get the catalinas mentioned here at this site. Do you think they give out extra catalina coupons as a reward for checking yourself out so that they do not have to pay as many checkers? Do you think it is worth the difference in catalinas to check yourself out? Thanks.

Interesting, I never thought about that before but I have never noticed a difference when I use uscan vs a human when it comes to getting catalinas.

I use uscan when I want to do multiple orders, which is most of the time. The only one I have got lately are script q's and $5 off 85 and I never spend that much there. I want to go shopping with your hubby!

This a.m. the cashier told my hubby that he had a talented wife because I saved so much money. I spent $15.xx saved 50.14 and got back $13 in oyno. Love the Kraft cheese and Pupperoni deals.

I happened to go early Saturday morning to beat the madhouse rush. The self checkout clerk told me he would check me out at the self checkout since there was no one around. I ended up getting a catalina for a free Idahoan potato, the $5 oyno from Kraft, and a $20 pharmacy prescription catalina. I don't think that I have ever gotten a free item catalina in the clerk checkout before and I have no idea what triggered the Idahoan potato catalina. Thanks for responding.

I tend to get better ones from the cashier than the uscan. It never fails that the machines at the uscans are never working. After our shopping on Saturday I walked away with 10 catalinas for various things. Hubby was so proud of me!

YOU DO/CAN SPEND $85!!! Use the $5 off of $85 BEFORE all other coupons/catalinas.
I save up my freebies/almost frees and combine them with sale items/coupons when I get one of those large $/$. I used to give the catalina to someone with a lot of groceries, but then saw that "you saved $50+" on a receipt one day and the light bulb went off! The $/$ catalinas are usually are good for at least 2 weeks, so you have a little time to plan.

Hmm, I never thought about that. When I think about it, I rack up catalinas at the uscan. I get them occasionally when I use a cashier. Not that I'm concerned because most of the cats I get are for things I don't use or buy!

I have been getting a lot of random Cats but of the ones I plan to get, I get them whether I check out at a self serve or full serve registers.
