Meijer marked down meat...watch the pricing!!! Today, my husband and I went to Meijer to pick up some of the ground chuck that's on sale for $1.69. (He doesn't like to use what's in the freezer for burgers on the grill....he likes fresh better).
While we were there, he found a package of ground beef that had the "Special Savings" sticker on it.
Original price per pound $2.29
Weight 6.45 pounds
Price $14.77
The "special savings" sticker said:
20% off
You pay $11.82
So far...this is right.
BUT....
then it says, new price per pound $1.35
The store was crowded, I didn't have a calculator with me, and we were in a hurry to get home before the school bus got here. The price per pound looked good...better than the sale price on the ground chuck...so we bought it.
MISTAKE! And I should have known better!
Yes, the new price was correct at $11.82
But, if it was actually $1.35/lb (as it also states!), it should have only cost $8.71
We saved the receipt and the wrapper (in a ziploc bag) and we're going back tomorrow to talk to someone. I know, I should have figured it out...but I also know that I shouldn't have to! My husband says it's deceptive labeling...and I tend to agree with him!
