QUESTION What's the definition of identical coupons?

I know it sounds like a very silly question, but does anyone know how Meijer defines identical coupons when it comes to doubling?

Example 1:
I have two 50/2 off any Progresso Soups insert coupons. Those are identical in every sense. No questions about this.

Example 2:
I have one 50/2 off any Progresso Soups insert coupon and a 50/2 off any Progresso Soups internet printable coupon. Both coupons give cents off on the exact same items, with the exact same values. Are these considered as identical? If I used 2 of each type (i.e. 2 printables and 2 inserts) will all four Qs double?

Example 3:
I have one 50/2 off Progresso Soup internet printable coupon (from Smartsource) and another 50/2 off Progresso Soup internet printable coupon (from Redplum). Like the example above, both coupons are identical in terms of their cents off and item type. However, they are printed from different sources. As before, are these counted as identical coupons?

Default Re: What's the definition of identical coupons?

Example 2: no go. Only two of any like product coupon. It doesn't matter the source. If you tried two progresso soup coupons and two progresso broth coupons, it would not work. It would only double the first two.

Example 3: these are like item coupons. If you try to use more than two, the rest will not double.

Here's a scenario that might help.

You buy two BC Warm Delights and two BC frosting. You have two coupons for each (one for each item). The first two coupons will double. The rest will not. The reason is that the Meijer computers interpret and read the coupons for Betty Crocker products as being identical coupons. It has to do with the way they are coded. Maybe someone else can explain this further, but this is my understanding.

As far as breaking up your coupons, you can do two like coupons per transaction and have them doulbe, and after that they are not doubled, so I generally just do multiple transactions to avoid this problem. This is easier at the Uscan for me.

That... I did not know. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well the last time I was at the Uscan, the Uscan staff took like 15min to check through all the coupons (some of the coupons required manual approval or something like that), and I had only 20+ coupons, not as if I had a hundred! Swore I would never go to the Uscan again.

Yes, that is the pain with the UScan. But if you are buying say 10 BC warm delights and breaking it up into five transactions, it is easier that way for me at least. =)

At my stores, identical = SAME SCAN CODE. Which can really stink when the scan code for 2 coupons is the same, but they are for different items (Lysol, Aunt Millie's, etc.). Everytime there is a 1/2 price deal on Lysol, I have to stand in the aisle and figure out what products I can buy together and which ones must be done in separate transactions as the coupon READS either pourable or spray, but the UPC (scan code) is the SAME.

Do you mean the scan code on the product or the one on the coupon? I always thought the coupon was the problem. I had this issue before with Green Giant. If I used two frozen boxed vegs coupon in the same transaction as the GG Valley fresh steamers coupons, the steamers ones would not double.

At the Uscan in New Albany, IN only two coupons will double. It did not used to be this way. The only way more than two (not identical) coupons to double is to only scan the first barcode. When this first happened I had a coupon with the do not double or triple wording. I did not have any recourse because of the wording. :(
