Meijer ~ Store Coupon: Got an mPerks text offer

I signed up for text alerts on gas prices from Meijer.com a while back, and they occassionally send Red Box codes and Saturday Sale alerts too. On Friday I finally got something really worthwhile - $10 off a $50 purchase this weekend! Here's what it said:

"Meijer mPerks: Just 4 U, 1 use: $10 off $50+ purch when U enter this phone # @ checkout by 5/31/10. Exclns apply. Reply INFO for details."

I did reply and then got this:

"Select 'mPerks' @ bottom of SelfCheckout screen b4 paying OR tell cashier U have an mPerks Promo. For more help: www.tinyurl.com/meijerhelp "

I hadn't seen anything about "mPerks" before, so I wanted to make sure everyone else knew too!

It's a new program Meijer just started... didn't think it was live though.. they just gave team members the info and let us sign up to try it out... there were good coupons this week!

I just got back from trying it. It put the line item on the screen but didn't take off any amount. When it came time to pay and it still hadn't deducted, I called a cashier over to watch. She said it would be a catalina, and of course my machine was blinking red so it wasn't working. She wrote me out a $10 coupon.

So I wonder if this means I didn't need to actually buy $50 today. Could I have just entered the phone number on any size purchase and gotten the coupon? The wording isn't really clear.

Check the bottom of your receipt.. I had a $5/$25 loaded on mine and it never did show up on the screen... but if I look at the bottom of the receipt it shows there.

Could you explain more please? I don't think I understand what you mean. My receipt shows the last two digits of my cell, but that's the only thing that appears to be in reference to this.

At the bottom of my receipt.. under the coupons that came off.. and just above where it says " Mperks # -- ********82" (phone number) it says:

mPerks Basket Offer
=> 5.00 off -5.00
* Limit of 5.00 reached

Thanks. Mine doesn't say that, that's why I was confused. So that means it should have come off instantly like I suspected rather than a catalina like the cashier said? Maybe still working out the bugs?

Yes.. it should be an instant thing on your transaction.. not a catalina. They just started it this week... they told the team members to sign up.. with our discount cards.. so maybe they haven't worked out everything for the public yet..
