Meijer ~ Vent: Meijer-Cashier MANUALLY "Undoubled" the coupons

Yesterday, I had a cashier manually zero out the doubling of all my coupons that said "Do Not Double" on them. Everyone of them had automatically doubled. When I asked why she was doing that, she showed me the "do not double", and said she was required to do that.

I couldn't really argue, but needless to say, I was MAD! :hectic1::hectic1:

There is a b@&*itchy cashier at my store that does that..needless to say I avoid her. She is also the one that takes my coupons at the beginning looks at each one and then scans the coupon after scanning the item...this was the first and last time I went to her line!!

I would have told her she could remove all the items those dnd coupons went to and then give me my coupons back. What a witch!

if that happens to me i also tell them to void off the matching items and 9 times out of ten the cashiers go ahead and let it go ... "JUST THIS ONCE!".........

I'm not sure I understand why the 'anger'. The coupon states do not double. If they turn in whatever they are required to for coupons, they would only get the value of the coupon + .08. My guess is they would have to eat the doubled amount.

To me, the cashier was doing her job. Also, if you go to the u-scan, don't they also check coupons there? If not, and this scenario is allowed to occur, I can see what they do at Jewel happening at Meijer. My Jewel says to set the coupons aside and wait for a cs rep to put them in.

The anger comes from Meijer advertising doubling coupons and then not following through. What the manufacturer coupon says should have nothing to do with Meijer eating the cost of the coupons they advertise they will double. All stores that double eat the cost of the doubling, not the mfc.

Thank you for clarifying. i do remember ages ago our Eagle store doing that. I'd forgotten. However, that store has long since been out of business. Our Meijer does not double.

Wonder how long before others follow suit. Can't see them eating the cost indefinitely. Especially if they're the only ones doing it. They might not see the value. Unless a SuperWalmart is their competition. Around here, Meijer is just as cheap and Walmart is not the worth the penny or two cheaper to put up with.

All the grocery stores aound my Meijer double, at least the ones I go to so I guess that is why my Meijer does it..to keep up

Kroger also doubles in my area, so I hope Meijer doesn't change its policy.

Yep, have quite a few cashiers here that do that. Giant Eagle is the worst, they have almost every cashier trained to look for that DND on the coupon. Can't really argue with them but still irrates me. Don't say you double if you only double certain coupons. I tell them I don't want the item if I happen to get one of the "inspector gadget" cashiers. I look for the young male cashiers, I can't remember one of them who undoubled my coupons. Sad to say but the middle aged woman are the worst. They seem to get joy in pushing that button, don't know if they are jeolous of my coupon deals or what but I avoid them like the plague if I have coupons that say DND. I will sit and read Star magazine for 5 minutes to wait for the young male cashier to open up if its between him and the coupon cop. I don't buy the whole they are just doing their job, some of those womans fingers start twitching waiting to push the DND button as soon as they see my coupons. I have had them push the button and the coupon didn't even say DND, the excuse was well the old coupon had it on so I just figured this one did also
