Meijer ~ Other: Meijer-Betty Crocker coupons don't double, possible solution.

So, I've read in the weekly post about Betty Crocker coupons only doubling the first 2 coupons, even if they are different (such as the warm delights and the frosting, and possibly others.)

This happened to me tonight. I scanned the frosting coupons first which doubled, but then the first warm delights coupon did not. I noticed that on the screen the number of the coupon was: 81101001600007, which was also what was displayed for the two frosting coupons. I scanned the next warm delights coupon with the "extra" bar code folded over. That coupon scanned and showed the real bar code of 51600035350. This time it did double.

Bottom line, on these BC coupons I would try scanning with the "extra" code hidden.

Last time there was a problem with the Betty Crocker coupons I told the front end manager the next week. She wasn't there the day I was shopping. She said if there was a problem again to page her, she needed to see the coupons get the upc codes and report the problem.

I haven't run in to issues with the GM coupons not doubling if you use more than two, mostly because I don't buy a lot of those products. But I always scan my coupons with my thumb over that second barcode. I've seen cashiers do it everywhere, and I rarely have issues with coupons scanning.

I see that that is the same way WalMart scans theirs, so does that work with both insert q's and IP's -you should cover the upc to the right (with the q facing you of course)?

I will try this tomorrow. I was just going to go to the regular checkout and have the cashier manually double them. I will make sure I do this. Thanks.

A manager at Giant Eagle showed me how to do this (thumb over the second barcode) several months ago and I haven't had a problem since.

THANK YOU!!! I was just coming here to post asking why this was happening and if it was happening to anyone else. I wondered if it had something to do with that 2nd barcode. I was totally confused because the 40c Fruit shapes cpn came up with that same crazy barcode on the receipt as the 50c frosting/warm delight etc. And they are diff values! So 1 40c and 1 50c doubled (?). I was baffled!

Its frustrating because the UPCs start with a 5 so you know they are supposed to double, but they do say DND/T so when they don't and I point it out, my cashier says "Oh, because it says DND/T". I can't make them understand what the 5 means in the barcode. And since I wanted to do multiples of the same order this week (frosting, fruit snacks, etc), I can't very well go to the service desk 5 times and say it happened again, again, again...they will start to think I'm doing something.
