Meijer ~ Question: Meijer-Limit Two Coupons Regardless of Value?

This was a new one for me today...I was at one of the Meijer Fort Wayne stores attempting to purchase 10 bottles of the Crisco vegetable oil that was on sale.

The cashier informed me, and the manager concurred, that they will accept only two like coupons per order. It doesn't matter that I was using $1.00 coupons (not subject to doubling). The CS manager stated it has always been their policy - they were just enforcing it now.

The cashier asked if I did ad-matching. When I replied "no", she said that policy had changed too....

Is this Meijer's new policy? Any help is appreciated.

Haven't heard anything about this.. my dd just used 9 coupons in one order for free Freshpets tonight and no one said a word.. sounds like something that store is doing on it's own..

Well, since chynesnana doesn't know about it, I think your best bet is to ask to see a copy of the policy, or better than that, write corporate, and bring a copy of what they send with you. I bought four bottles of the Crisco oil four or five days ago with no problem. I'm in Cincinnati.

Hmm, I am planning on using all 10 of my All and 5 of my Snuggle tomorrow. In the past I have used more than 2. Our store does not double more than 2 like. Perhaps the cashier was confused about that?

This is the message received last night after asking for clarification; however my concerns had nothing to do with MB coupons...I appreciate everyone's insight. Now to fire off another e-mail to Meijer

MEIJER COUPON POLICY

We accept manufacturer, Catalina manufacturer, Meijer, Catalina Meijer, and internet coupons within certain guidelines. For Meijer, with the Catalina Meijer coupons the customer will pay any applicable sales tax on the discounted price. When a manufacturer or Catalina vendor coupon is presented, the customer pays sales tax on the full retail amount; and we rebate only the value of the coupon. We do not issue rainchecks on out-of-stock vendor coupon items.
To be valid, coupons must be presented before or on the expiration date. The customer must meet with the terms or qualifications for redemption on the coupon.
We apologize for any recent confusion surrounding the MealBox coupons. To help clarify the redemption of the MealBox coupons please know the following:
1.) Mealbox coupons may be used in addition to Manufacturer coupons
2.) Mealbox coupons may be used each time a condition is met, which could be multiple times per transaction. (For example: a coupon for $1.00 off 2 Soups can be used multiple times if you have a coupon printed and the number of soups purchased matches, i.e. 2 coupons = 4 soups.)
3.) Mealbox coupons cannot be doubled or tripled at any time.
4.) Stores have the right to limit the quantity of items to normal retail purchases per transaction.
If you have additional questions please, please feel free to stop at the Customer Service desk of your local Meijer store, and ask to speak with the Service Manager.

I was at the Meijer in eastgate last week on sat.(at the u scan) to do the 10/10 deal and was getting 9 bryers ice cream and 2 coles garlic bread and of course the bryers 1.00 Q beeped and when the cashier came over to check my Q he told me that I could only use 6 like coupons. I said "I thought it was two like coupons for doubling". And he told me I was only allowed to use 6 like coupons. I told him to show me where it said that. He said he could not show me but that it has always been Meijers policy for only 6 like coupons at a time. Of course I cant talk to the manager there cause he backs up his employees first. Ive tried talking with this particular manager a couple of times and have gotten no where. Every Meijers is different. I think it depends on whether youve been labled or not. Certain cashiers like me and some do not. You learn a "new rule" everyday. I try to be nice to every cashier whether they like me or not.

Just talked to the grocery manager and then the head cashier at the Lima Road store. Her only comment was that these are individually owned stores and they have the right to set purchase quantities. This store has agreed on a limit of two. She also said all Fort Wayne stores should be following this policy.

While she agreed that this limit of two policy is not in writing, they are going to adhere to this limit. I questioned why this policy appears to only apply to couponers. She said they did not want "shelf clearers". In my mind this is the store's inventory problem.

Suffice to say, when I have coupons exceeding the 55 cent mark, I will definitely be going to Kroger. What a hassle!

I don't really see how buying more than 2 of something is shelf-clearing. Maybe more than 8 or something, but it depends on what it is. I mean, I can't imagine only buying two boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese (esp. with the Buy 3 get 1 coupon out there). I don't get that at all. So sorry! I would definitely be turning to Kroger. Meijer is getting to be very inconsistent lately.

They are misinformed there.. all Meijer stores are owned and operated by the Meijer family.. there are no individually owned stores with the Meijer name...

That being said... it is up to the individual Store Director to make decisions like these unfortunately.. and corporate will back the Store Director in "most" instances.. :sad:
