Default Re: Meijer: Price List

I like this idea and appreciate all your typing but... I have 5 Meijer's with-in 25 mins of me and about 8 with-in 40 mins ...they all have different prices .. as much as .50 -$2 on some basic items depending on the stores I compare ( for example the West Main, Kalamazoo, MI store has a large student shopping matrix and the Richland, MI shopper base is a rural community shopping area.. the make-up of the two stores and pricing is quite different ... boxes of cereal at these two locations alone is usually about .50 to .75 cents different) ... with so many shoppers from such a huge regional area these prices wouldn't be a reflective of the stores in general. The people on this site are covering 5 states ( MI, IL, OH, IN, and KY) and each of those states has several regional areas... I think this idea would work if we had perhaps 10-15 lists per state...which would work out still to a few stores per list but that would be managing ~55 different lists and I don't think we have the user base to effectively manage that. I think currently they have about ~190 stores in the 5 states they cover. Maybe I am just looking too negatively ... what do others think.

I see what Michar is saying, but also appreciate the effort to get these prices. The other potential problem is that Meijer tends to raise prices, and then lower them again, claiming it as a "price drop." I have no idea how often this actually happens, but it could be problematic to keep up with. Also, if like Michar said, they are revising prices based on local competition, we could revise the list only to find that it wasn't changed at all stores. Maybe we could do an "everyday good deal" list. For example, if Pop Tarts are typically priced lower at Meijer than other stores, we could list that (although here Kroger is cheaper for Pop Tarts--LOL!).

Made additions.

The price list is not a guarantee of an item price, it stands to reason that prices are going to vary from location to location and is meant as a quick reference for an average only. The Wal-Mart forum is able to pull off a pricelist and Wal-Mart is countrywide.

If you find that my list is not accurate enough in comparison to your store not even for a ball park idea, I am sorry but then you will know not to rely on it. If anyone finds the list useful then I’m happy to share.

Awesome! You aren't far from me in Louisville at all. I was looking through the price list and it's amazing how the prices differ so much with towns that close together. Like, for instance, the BC potatoes are 1.00 here, and the store doubles coupons, those are some cheap potatoes. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!!
