Thumbs Down Contacting Meijer About New Ads

I just used the contact us feature on meijer.com to lodge a complaint about these new ads. I encourage everyone to do the same. You can also call them at 1-877-363-4537.
Here's what I wrote, I will post any response I get from them.
I just got this week's ad and I have to tell you how disappointed I am in this new format. There are not nearly the same number of sale items available. I have been spending 80% of my grocery dollars AND traveling over 25 miles to shop at Meijer because of your great sales. You have a SuperCenter Walmart that just opened in Traverse City. Their prices are at par or lower than Meijer but I had chose to stay with Meijer because I like the store and the variety of sale items offered weekly. I will have to re-evaluate that decision if this is going to be the quality of ad you are putting out now.
I belong to the internet's number one couponing site and we have a Meijer forum on that site. I have seen numerous threads about the dislike of these ads since they began in some markets. I know that not everyone will write to the company, they just stop or decrease their shopping. I am going to encourage all the site members to contact you and voice their opinion about these.
Thank you for your time and please reconsider this new format with fewer sale items.

I don’t get an actual ad in any local paper because the Meijer I go to is almost 40 miles away, but the online ad for my store seems to be the small one now also. I think I’m going to wait awhile though before passing judgment, good deals on regular grocery items always seem to decrease around this time of year so it may not have anything to do with the size of the ad. If after the first of the year the sales start up again I’m good. I personally don’t care for a large ad, I always wrestle with it to get it to fold back over right. A small ad like what Wal-Mart has should lay open across my coupon box and purse with no problem, I won’t need to fold it up or shove it at my DH to hold while I get at my coupons.

Thanks for posting this. I'll be writing to them later today. I don't like the new ad at all. I'm a creature of habit, for the most part. I'll accept change...but if it's change for the better. I don't think the new ad is better. To me, it looks like they're trying to have less items on sale, so they changed the format so that it would look different...but nobody would notice the lack of sale items. I make my list at home, so I'm not looking for something that's easier to take to the store. I rarely take mine along.
