Meijer Catalina - Store coupon

I am definately curious as to what triggered mine. I did not buy any cereal, and received a $1 off my next cereal purchase. (not including hot cereal) and it is also a Meijer coupon. This is what I bought:

4 jellos
2 Angel Soft 4 packs.
3 Fleichman Yeasts
1 Green Works Laundry Soap
1 11 lb. Turkey
6 Glade Sprays
and 5 Stove Tops

Nothing there seems like an obvious trigger, so I wonder if it is just random?

My husband has received this coupon twice in the past month, both times for $3/6 boxes of cereal or $4/7boxes of cereal.

Both times, his transaction was a single general merchandise item. Both times he used his AMEX. I am wondering if AMEX is tripping this coupon.

PLEASE help me- I think I am losing my mind on this one.

I could have swore that I had a catalina for $3 off when you buy 5 boxes of cereal, but for some reason I can' t find it anywhere!!! I looked in my coupon book, my kitchen counter anywhere!

I just thought of something- didn't that cat expire on 1/3/10? Does anyone know- it was $2 off 4, $3 off 5.... perhaps I tossed it because of expiration. Anyone confirm??? If it is still active then I threw out $3 into the trash ARGH!!!!!
