QUESTION Meijer-Do you think the Attorney General should be notified?

It seems that too many people are having problems with Meijer Mealbox coupons. Last week, my sister went shopping and was only going to get Kraft Easy Mac cups. The Mealbox coupons did show up on her receipt but it wasn't deducted from her total. This is not the first time that this has happened. This is not the first time management was alerted to the problem. Apparently nothing has changed. They are still deceiving people.
I can't help but wonder how many people go in and buy a basket full of groceries and decided to pick up something only because Meijer offers a coupon on their website. Sure, it shows the coupon on the receipt, but it's really not deducting the coupon from the total. If someone's spending 75.00 on groceries, they don't even realize that they were not given credit for the coupons.
At what point should the attorney general be contacted to complain about their coupon practices. It's like they're tricking people into thinking they're getting money off for the coupon when they actually are not. That's fraud.

I'm not sure if this had anything to do with my Q's, but twice I went in to Meijer last week to do the 10/10 get 11th free deal, and both times I was not given a free item. The first time it was velveeta cups, the second it was easy mac cups. I wonder why? I still have to go back and have that corrected. I get tired of going back and forth to customer service, so yes maybe they should be contacted. Personally I think it gets old after a while and wish it would get straigtened out. :shrug7:

I will have to check and see if my coupons actually came off. I went yesterday and used a lot of the mealbox coupons. I think it is worth notifying. I mean, I had 6 items that were supposed to be free this week, the register showed them as free, but after I paid and the receipt came out, they were no longer free. That is very deceiving. Also I noticed this week that items that were supposed to be 1.00, weren't and that screwed with my total as well as the free items. I don't know. It seems that store has gone downhill the past few months.

The Attorney General “no”, the Better Business Bureau “maybe”, if they are intentionally doing it to scam people. I don’t think they are, I think they are in the process of updating their system and it’s not going as well as they had hoped. Some may not notice the errors on their receipt but I bet most do and complain about it. Yes, it is a PITA that we have to get our orders corrected so much lately, but it’s probably worse on their end.

At least the cashier wanted to scan the stupid coupon. My cashier yesterday refused to even scan the Meijer Mealbox coupon because I had a manufacturer coupon for the same product. So I told her fine and took the coupon to Customer Service. I had 2 CS people argue with me because I was NOT allowed to use Meijer mealbox and manufacturer at the same time. FInally the 3rd person at CS gave me a dollar and said "sorry for my troubles".

That's why I keep a sheet of coupons printed from the mealbox site that has this wording on it:

PLEASE NOTE: If your coupons are being cut by a page break, please return to the Specials tab, locate the coupon that is being cut, click on it and select Print from the top of MealBox. This will allow you to print a single coupon and avoid it being interrupted by a page break. Meijer MealBox coupons can be combined with Manufacturer coupons. Only one Meijer MealBox and one Manufacturer coupon per item.

As far as the attorney general goes I would say no about the mealbox coupon problems but yes about the B2G1 or free items not being free when using coupons on items that aren't the free item(yoplait parfaits, Eggo etc).

My mom noticed her mealbox Qs were not being deducted from the total when the cashier scanned them. She told the cashier (who was very unfriendly to begin with and seemed suspicious of my mom & her coupons...) and she said she'd fix it--but she ADDED a dollar to the total!

It seems there are multiple issues here... Meijer cashiers suspecting all coupon users of fraud (or something horrendous, according to their scowls!), Meijer cashiers unaware of Meijer coupon policies, Meijer's fraudulent (yes, I believe it is...) action in deducting coupon values from "free" items rather than items being paid for with cash (how great is that for them?--they simply get reimbursed from the manufacturer for their own sale items! Gotta be saving them thousands of dollars to not have to honor their own sales....)

Not sure what the answer is. Probably the first step is for all frustrated shoppers to alert customer service and Meijer headquarters. If nothing is accomplished there, Better Business Bureau, and as a final resort, legal means (fraud is illegal! Don't they always remind coupon shoppers of that--even if we're very careful to be legit!?!)

Are you noticing that the mealbox coupons are being subtracted up on the receipt instead of at the bottom. I watch the total that is displayed each time they scan a coupon to make sure the total goes down. I'm sure I've been shorted and didn't even notice. I think they are trying to make it confusing and difficult to use coupons.

I always watch my total as she is scanning the coupons. If the amount doesn't lower, I stop her on the first one. Normally, the cashier notices too...and fixes it RIGHT AWAY! I have only not noticed it 2 times. But, if I keep my eyes out, we are all happy. :)

So, are you all saying that even if it shows it deducted money under the item, it still isn't coming off the total?
