Meijer-1/2 Price Deli Counter Meat

What time do they start selling it 1/2 off? Is it 9:00 because the deli has to be "closed"? I usually do the chickens, but those are visible, but I can't remember at what time they start the counter. I need to get a whole lot of deli meat and was hoping to get the turkey and ham that are already on sale at an even better price since I have to buy so much. And only 2 nights to do it! Thanks in advance for any help.

I think it's 9 or 10, but you might want to call the store & ask, as they might close at different times. I usually only remember if I'm in the store when they announce it, and then there is a mad rush to the deli.

I can't comment on the time but if you need a lot, you might be able to get a deal from the person at the deli counter.

When the Unilever Ham rebate was going on I did deli ham with one of my rebates.

I was at the right place at the right time and didn't plan this at all. I asked the deli clerk for $20 worth of whatever ham they had on sale that week. He mentioned a limit on sale items. I countered by asking for $20 of a non-sale ham. He thought for a minute and decided we could "make it mutually beneficial" (yes, his exact words).

Long story short, it was close to closing time for the deli and he was about to mark down all the deli meat. He told me he'd give me a flat % off all the leftover sliced ham. I agreed and told him it could only have one UPC on it even if it was various types of ham. He said no problem.

He took all the leftover sliced ham and bagged each type individually, weighed it all at once, figured a lump sum price based on some % off and then printed one sticker.

I ended up with $22 in deli ham or a net $2 after my Unilever check came.

Granted not all clerks would be willing to do this and I was more than happy that it was his idea :)

Thanks for the info. I went last night (but had to be back before 9 so I couldn't check the deli) and found the whole boneless hams for $1.49/lb and asked them to slice it at the meat counter. They blew a circuit about 3/4 into the 2nd ham, so they gave it to me for $1.19/lb. I guess the meat/deli people are pretty easy to work with! Maybe I'll see about the deli stuff this week EditionK.

I just discoverd the whole discounted deli thing. Someone told me that at the store a couple of weeks ago. It was around 8:30. OMG..I never thought about having the deli slice my ham. Defintely putting that one in my pocket. I need to find another .99 lb deal.

The deli always has some different meats leftover that were already sliced. Anything that's sitting there sliced is 1/2 off the price it was being sold for. So they may not have what you want, but they usually have a decent variety. They also have the chickens/meatloaf/turkey breasts/ribs- anything left in that area, for about 40% off. The chickens are usually $3.59. They mark those down during the day too, I think because they have been on the rack for a certain amount of time.

Is this something they do every night or just certain nights of the week? I'm new to shopping at Meijer, so I'm still learning.
