Hot Button $75.00 in free groceries or gas at Meijer through US Bank

I do my shopping at Meijer in New Albany IN, and there is a US Bank inside the store. This bank is offering $75.00 in free groceries or gas when you open a new checking account with them. You simply open a new account with a minimum of $100.00, use the check card to purchase $75.00 worth of groceries or gas within 30 days (at Meijer), then give them the receipt and they will credit $75.00 back to your account. DH and I both opened accounts today at the banker’s suggestion for a total of $150.00. I was told that there are only 2 US Banks in Indiana, but lots in Kentucky around the Louisville area. I don’t know if any of them are in other Meijer stores or if they are offering the same promotion, but I think it’s worth looking into.

Wow...nice find! I will have to check and see if that is good in Cincy stores. But then again I have no clue how I could spend 75 at Meijer. Last week got 32 items for 33 after q's, and that included 2-4 pound pkg frozen boneless skinless chicken that was BOGO. I'd have the whole car filled up for 75. Now just to figure a scenario and hope that the bank here is doing the 75 that would be awesome!

I could easily do that in gas alone!

No US Bank here though :(

Maybe you can use it for multiple shopping trips? Won't hurt to ask.

I called the branch in Louisville and they are offering this promo. They said that you could spend $75 in multiple transactions including gas. You just save your receipts and take them to the bank counter for reimbursment. He did say that you have to keep the account open 6 months or there will be a fee ($35?) for closing the account early.

I'm sure she mentioned another branch in Clarksville. I don't know if it's in a store or not. I do know that there isn't a Meijer in Clarksville.

That sounds like a great deal! Are there any fees involved with this account?
