Today's Meijer Trip

I found out that Meijer only doubles coupons TWICE for the same type of item, so I split the transaction up into two. The computer didn't really like my $.50 coupon (which doubles) for a $.88 item, and the cashier was kind of a snot when I showed her the coupon. She let it through, though.

The second transaction was a royal disaster. The salad that was supposed to ring up for $1.67 rang up for $1.99 (we let that slide), then a $2.99 bag of candy had a 40% off clearance sticker ... for $2.39. (40% off should be $1.79.) The girl was snotty about that too. Then the computer *****ed about my OTHER pasta coupons, and a guy came over and was totally cool. The second he hit the supersekrit cashier mode, I went to town on the coupons. I know what to hit XD When it got to 'TOO MANY COUPONS', I just entered them in manually. I've seen it enough times. The guy joked that I know the computer so well I should work there XD

So I got everything I wanted for a pretty decent price.

Starting combined total: $49.32
Coupons and sales: $24.51
End total: $24.81

I feel rather proud of myself. Almost as proud as turning $85 into $35 like I did last month (:

I HATE that Meijers only doubles 2 like coupons. It is SUCH a royal PITA, especially when it comes to 10/10/11th free sales. But... it also gives me great pleasure when I can figure out how to use all of my coupons while using their rules. Love the game and mind the rules and everyone wins!

I seriously don't understand why they only double 2 of the same coupon! It's especially frustrating when they have something on sale 3/$5. I mean...you want to buy 3 of them, but you can only double the coupons on 2 of them!! And, as a previous poster said, the 10/$10, 11th free is a pain when you can only double 2 like q's. You have to do soooooo many transactions!!

The true disadvantage being if the coupons are $.50, you won't get the 11th for free if you split up the transactions. Suckage, no?

Since my husband and I often end up getting into town at least twice a week, I don't mind splitting up my weekly deals into two or more trips. Doing two or three transactions isn't hard when you use the unlimited self-checkout either (:

Our self-scan was recently setup so that the .51+ Qs wouldn't have to be manually adjusted. It's so nice... When you have to do multiple transactions it makes it nice to be able to do them at the self-scan registers. Then you don't have the huffy puffy people.

We have one store here that said they only allow 2 of each coupon period!
I pointed out that the bottom of their ad said that only 2 "identical" will double and additional coupons are to be for face value.

So why does it mention the aditional if they are not allowed??

I was told this by a cashier one time too! I had 4 q's for the same free item, and she handed 2 of them back to me. I told her that I got 4 of them, and she said, "but you can only use 2 identical coupons, so you can't use these." I told her that the rule applied only to doubling, and I would like to see her supervisor...who is one of my favorite cashiers!! LOL!! She was told in no uncertain terms that she was wrong, and to ring them up!

That stinks xufan. I've only gotten a reaction like that once, and I promptly told the cashier to give all my coupons back and left my $80 order at the register when she refused to call the manager. The lady at the customer service desk wasn't too pleased either, because of the cashier XD
