Re: Toledo, Ohio area Meijer NOT taking Internet Coupons Toledo, Meijer Coupon Update.
I called Meijer Corporate and spoke with a nice lady, named Lynn, in their complaint department and described the situation to her. She told me that Meijer ABSOLUTELY takes internet coupons with the exception of some Counterfeit Ones that the stores have copies of. She did however say that each individual Store Director has total control over how their store is operated and that they are responsible for the policies that their managers and cashiers follow.
She apologized for my experience and suggested that I contact the Store Director, Jennifer H., in the morning to discuss the situation and that she was certain that the Store Director would correct things. She also gave me the name of the Market Director, Larry G., who was the Store Director's superior in case Jennifer H. was not able to rectify the situation.
I called the store Thursday morning and was told that Jennifer H. and Larry G. were off on Thursdays and were not available. I did speak with the Guest Service Line Manager, Cheryl E., and explained the situation to her. We had a lengthy discussion about Internet Coupons, Counterfeits, Dishonest People, Coupon Policy etc., I asked her if I could get the store's coupon policy in writing from her. She told me no. I really did not get very far with her at this point, but made an appointment to meet with her around lunch time to show her the coupons that were denied. I told her I was not satisfied with what she told me and would be calling Corporate to relate our discussion and get their position.
I recalled Corporate and spoke with a Customer Complaint representative named Krista. I told her of my frustration and asked her if I could get a written copy of Meijer Corporate Coupon Policy. She spoke with her supervisor and returned to say that Meijer did not issue written letters or emails stating their Coupon Policy, nor was it posted online anywhere. She again stated Meijer's policy of taking internet coupons and directed me back to the store.
I met with Cheryl at the store around noon and showed her the coupons. She agreed that they were all valid coupons and that the Cashier/Night Manager should have accepted them. She then showed me a book containing samples of counterfeits that they were NOT to accept. She then said that she would speak with the managers and cashiers and go over the coupon policies in order to try to avoid this type of occurance in the future. She then gave me a gift card for my inconvenience.
I returned to the store later that day, bought the same items that I had left on the belt the night before, and had no problems whatsoever using the coupons that had been refused.
Moral of the story. As long as the coupons are legit, stand your ground and complain if you are not treated properly. Don't be afraid to leave a load of groceries at the checkout if they wont take your coupons. And remember to tell them that you can always take your business elsewhere. |
