Issue at Marsh...

so this morning I made my 3rd trip to Marsh.

I bought a rump roast, carmel apples, 16 purex det., 12 purex fabric softener.

I didn't clear the shelf, I left 16 det, and 8 fabric softener.

I handed the lady my coupons and she stated she couldn't take them because they would be free. she conferred with the lady at the service desk and she said it was fine but then bagged my things and the 2 began grilling me about where they came from and crap.

Well, can you buy less items at a time... maybe buy half that amount, take it to your car and come through a different line? While it isn't necessarily required at Marsh, there is something to be said for not ruffling their feathers.

My local Marsh doubles unlimited like coupons also...but I usually buy more like 5 at a time. In a 10/10 sale I have bought 10 propels free after coupon and not raised any eyebrows at my store a few times. But, I buy more of the other non-coupon loss leaders, sales items or regular shopping needs also, so it isn't as obvious. I think 16 is a pretty high number...it may not have cleared the shelf, but it was enough to draw their attention. They did let you buy them...just didn't like it. I'm just suggesting that if you keep it smaller, then you might be able to get just as much without the hassle.

I tend to try to fly under the radar when I am using coupons (not that there is anything wrong with buying a large quantity in one trip but I have just found that when its a really good deal/free and I am planning to use a lot of same coupons I make several trips) It just makes it easier and makes it no hassle for me..I know this isnt easy if going to the store isnt close to home..

That said...I dont think grilling you about where the coupons came from was right or professional (how do they know..Maybe you do the shopping for all your elderly neighbors and are using their coupons as well as your own!!)

also, print out their coupon policy from their website and tuck it into your coupon organizer..This has been a life saver for me several times at other stores.

It sucks to be treated that way and I can sympathize totally!!!

to be honest...16 and 12 didn't seem like a huge amount to get at once. they had one register open anyway. I have to drive 20-30 minutes depending on traffic to even get there...and 5 isn't worth the gas. I go early since I'm half way there when I take my son to St. Rita's. I have only been 3 times. first time I was able to get 7 dets. the second time I bought 12 of each (young guy--had my daughter with me, he was in love with her), and today.

I buy more than 16 toilet papers at kroger every time I go.

and yes frankie...Forest Park (northland??). Is there another near it? until you mentioned the store I'd never even heard of it.

i did not think the purex was free. i thought it was 2.50 before coupons.

there is a .99 purex but it may be disontinued in some stores
