I'm new on this site, but do 85% of my shopping at Market Basket. I live in NH. I find the folks at Market Basket here much nicer than the folks at Shaw's. I have a supermarket price comparison blog, but have found most prices are lower at Market Basket or the Super Walmart. I'm glad to see a MB forum, most coupon blogs I find list all stores except MB.

I'm a MB shopper in Massachusetts and shop there weekly. I agree with most posts here that you just can't beat the prices. Even though coupons aren't doubled, the prices are still worth the trip. I'm new to HCW and am looking forward to using it for MB deals and info!

I've been a MB shopper for years. Their prices can't be beat, IMHO. I am not a huge fan of their deli, tho. I supplement at the local Hannaford for bread/milk/fruit/marked down meat and some of their sales, but 85% of my shopping is at MB.

I wish the MB thread was a bit more active, tho. I like to see how well others do there, too. I think I'd die before heading to Stop & Shop for regular groceries - their prices are beyond high.

Whether MB prices can be beat: that depends what strategy you take. If you stock up when Shaw's has a get $15 back when you spend $30 in participating products, or similar, you will do much better than MB. I know there are certain products that are unbeatable at MB, like rotisserie chickens, but I'm not going to every darn store every week.

Take, for example, 100 oz Tide. I know that a deal is coming up for Tide at Shaw's starting Friday 1/1/10 through 1/7/10. The price is $9.99, with a regular price of $14.99. The deal is that you can get $10 off your next purchase when $25 or more is spent. Believe it or not, it only takes 2 to get the $10 off coupon, which essentially means you are spending $9.98 for 2, or $4.99 each (almost the same price as I would get Xtra).

MB has the same thing on sale for $9.99; no extra savings. So that means Tide is like 1/2 price versus MB at Shaw's!

Also, Progresso Weight Watchers was on sale 2 weeks ago for $1.39; regular is $2.99. Practically it required 5 (tripled the deal with 14 and got something else) and it practically is like paying $.40 a can after the $5 on your next purchase on a $15 purchase. MB regularly sells this type of soup for $2 a can and generally is not included in their $1 or $1.25 a can Progresso sales.

So that means if you stock up enough on grocery items, Shaw's can be a bargain. I've been doing Trader Joe's plus Shaw's for awhile. My brother was doing all MB and I told him to change his strategy to shopping these deals at Shaw's. Believe it or not, he's reduced his grocery bill.

I just wanted to mention that I've been posting Market Basket Deals & Match-Ups for the past few years now.

Hope it's helpful to all the Market Basket shoppers out there; like some others, I've found it to be the best for "normal" items that aren't specifically on sale elsewhere.

I finally got a chance to shop at the new Market Basket in oxford. All of my coworkers were talking about how cheap it was, how many bargains they found, etc. I was overall a little disappointed, and spent more money buying groceries there then I have in, well, years. I didn't plan as well as I normally do, which accounted for some of the high bill, but definitely not all. It's definitely a big, beautiful store, and I'll shop there when the deals are good or if there is nothing good for deals elsewhere, but I think I'm going to stick with Shaws as well!
