Weird question - can someone tell me what Rome apples are like? My son loves apples but only "crunchy" ones like Granny Smith or Gala. He doesn't like Red Delicious at all. GS are his absolute favorite (likes that they're both crunchy and tart - LOL) but he will also eat Fuji, Gala, or MacIntosh. Any comparisons on the Rome apples? $1.29 is an awesome deal for a bag of apples but not if he won't eat them - LOL

Rome Apples quite firm and are good for cooking with or making pies. The don't fall apart when cooked. I can't remember if they are a good apple to eat raw. It's been years since I've had one.

I think the instasave expires today (2/3) so make sure you check and use it today if you can! I used mine last week (they were bogo then too) so I'm not able to check but I am pretty sure today's the last day.

I did Google it and they are best for cooking - flavor develops when cooked, not very good raw apparently. I will probably get a bag if I can find a good chunky applesauce recipe though.
