Heads up about "coupon policy" at Knightdale, NC store

Went in today to pick up some things and had 2 wine tags that I had gotten at a previous visit from this store. I had obviously gotten the correct things to use the coupons on, but the cashier said that the new policy was to only let me use one wine tag coupon per transaction! I looked at her like she had lost her mind because I was just there the day before and used 4 wine tag coupons in one transaction. She said it is each store managers decision on how to accept these. What? They can make up their own coupon policies now? NOT! Oh, and you are also not allowed to use the self-check out with your one wine tag (so they voided my transaction and then made me stand in line at a regular check-out). I was furious. It took me about 30 minutes to check-out. I called Lowes Foods customer service and am waiting for them to call me back. The man at customer service said that he had never heard of a policy like that, but he was going to check into it for me. Just wanted to warn ya if you live in the area and this is one of your stores. I'll keep y'all posted on what customer service says.

My experience is that wine tags that scan fine at every other store (including Wal-Mart) have to be punched in at my LF. It is a pain. That said, I go to the store knowing this and I will only push so hard, after that it's not worth it. But I have 2-3 other stores I can use winetags at, so if they throw a massive fit, I put the items back and shrug.

I can NOT believe they made you wait in line again, that would have ticked me off. Let me tell you, of all the stores I frequent, including the stores up north, LF is always the most coupon clueless. They are not always coupon unfriendly, but my goodness I have some great stories about coupon cluelessness at my LF. :D

I've never heard of that policy, and I used winetags last night. As long as they're being used correctly (which you were), I can't imagine what their issue would be. A lot of winetags limit you to one per visit, but even still.

When I went in last night, I had 2 of the $1.99 Frozen Pizzas and 1 $1.29 bakery pie. I also had 2 winetags for $1 off frozen pizza, and 1 winetag for $1 off any bakery pie.

First he scanned them and it didn't work. Then he put them aside like it had taken them off. I said, "I don't think it took them off." He went to get a CALCULATOR and added up the $1.99, $1.99 and $1.29 to figure out that indeed, it had not taken them off. So he tries to figure it out, tries to call someone, and then punches them in as grocery. -1.00, -1.00 then +1.00. Then he's all confused that I tell him he added one of them. So he takes another $1 off...and then has to realize he has to take ANOTHER $1 off. Heh it was great. :D

At least he was friendly! I would love to know what customer service says.

The Knightdale LF is kinda hit or miss. The funny thing about this WT story though is that most of the WT's I've found (a grand total of 7 in a year) I found there. It is crazy that the WT's they have at their own stores aren't even able to be used there. What a load of crap.

I know! I told them that I found them at their store and if they didn't want them being used there then they need to not have them available to customers!
I called customer service again this morning, because I'm am not going to just let them slide and get away with this. Customer service told me they have forwarded the complaint on to the district manager and he should be calling me in the next 24 hours. If he doesn't then I'll be calling customer service again. This manager is not going to get away with being able to make up his own coupon policies if it isn't corporate's policy to let him (which they have told me it isn't).

Just got a nice call from the district manager! He said it sounds like the manager is making up his own rules about the coupon policy and that is wrong and he is going to personally talk to the manager of the store and set him straight. I am excited that maybe now others won't have trouble with using WT's but I may never be able to show my face in that store again. I'm a marked woman .

LOL!! You can come shop with me at the Garner Lowes. They are super great there. The only problem there is that there is an ebayer in Garner who steals all winetags and rebates as soon as they come out. I have only been able to beat him/her to them once in almost 9 months of trying. I wish I could catch him/her in the act, but so far no luck.

You are hatin' life with your "ebayer"! It isn't me. My parents live in Garner, but they don't use coupons (crazy, I know). I like that Lowes too, but I don't get there much. I love my Clayton LF so much! They are so awesome! I am really itching to go back over to the Knightdale store with a handfull of Wine tags and see what they do now.

I am pretty sure it isn't a HCW'er but more likely one of "those" couponers. By "those" I mean the ones who cheat the system/use fake coupons/fight with every cashier they see/feel that the world owes them something/think they are the only ones who are struggling to get by.

I'm sure you know the type. Garner is full of 'em and I work in East Raleigh which is tons worse so I am screwed either way. LOL

Funny story... Last week was the first time I have EVER seen wine tags in my Sparta store. We don't drink, but I peek down the aisles to see if there are any there... last week, I found about a dozen or so $2 off Rotisserie chicken, NWPN. So I took 2. One for the chicken that was in my basket and one for another week. Didn't want to be greedy with them... So yesterday afternoon, dh went with me to the store to pick up some milk and soda. I walked by an endcap that had wine on it and lo and behold... there were several more of the WineTags.. So I stopped and checked to make sure it was what I found last week. I took one. DH was like "What are you doing?!?!" So I had to explain it to him.... he still wasn't sure that my using it was right since I didn't buy the wine... but I told him he'd enjoy his chicken more since it was cheaper. The one that I have redeemed I haven't had any problems with.
