My experience is that wine tags that scan fine at every other store (including Wal-Mart) have to be punched in at my LF. It is a pain. That said, I go to the store knowing this and I will only push so hard, after that it's not worth it. But I have 2-3 other stores I can use winetags at, so if they throw a massive fit, I put the items back and shrug.
I can NOT believe they made you wait in line again, that would have ticked me off. Let me tell you, of all the stores I frequent, including the stores up north, LF is always the most coupon clueless. They are not always coupon unfriendly, but my goodness I have some great stories about coupon cluelessness at my LF. :D
I've never heard of that policy, and I used winetags last night. As long as they're being used correctly (which you were), I can't imagine what their issue would be. A lot of winetags limit you to one per visit, but even still.
When I went in last night, I had 2 of the $1.99 Frozen Pizzas and 1 $1.29 bakery pie. I also had 2 winetags for $1 off frozen pizza, and 1 winetag for $1 off any bakery pie.
First he scanned them and it didn't work. Then he put them aside like it had taken them off. I said, "I don't think it took them off." He went to get a CALCULATOR and added up the $1.99, $1.99 and $1.29 to figure out that indeed, it had not taken them off. So he tries to figure it out, tries to call someone, and then punches them in as grocery. -1.00, -1.00 then +1.00. Then he's all confused that I tell him he added one of them. So he takes another $1 off...and then has to realize he has to take ANOTHER $1 off. Heh it was great. :D
At least he was friendly! I would love to know what customer service says.

) I found there. It is crazy that the WT's they have at their own stores aren't even able to be used there. What a load of crap.

.
My parents live in Garner, but they don't use coupons (crazy, I know). I like that Lowes too, but I don't get there much. I love my Clayton LF so much! They are so awesome! I am really itching to go back over to the Knightdale store with a handfull of Wine tags and see what they do now.
