Lowes Foods ~ Vent: Anyone have any trouble with triples today?

I went to Lowes this morning and had some problems. The cashier read every single coupon and then looked at the price of the item and if the item would be free after triples they refused to accept it! Of course I had a buggy full of FAC items: Muir Glen, Comet rice, Oral-B Toothbrushes, etc. The cashier claimed this was their policy now. If you read the policy on the front door it does now have a clause that says they reserve the right to reject coupons for any reason. The CS came over and after a little discussion decided to let me get the free items unless the coupon says "do not double or triple". So I had to pull out some items and go back and get a few more items. I flat out told them no other store in the area has ever treated me this way or rejected coupons for these reasons--They wouldn't even take it at face value. I was very calm in telling them this. They are losing business and they don't care! I didn't even use near 20 coupons today, but I'm too upset to go try a different store. Please, Please tell me that y'll have had no problems and this was just this one store!

Oh, and another thing that is weird is I had planned the transaction so that I would not have zero or negative balance, but all the pulling things out messed that up. When she tripled my coupons, they owed me .48 but didn't give me the change and didn't give me the chance to add something to the order. I would have thrown in a pack of gum or something, but the CS standing there told the cashier to close her drawer and just give me the receipt. I debated about going back and arguing with them over this--that girl's drawer is going to be over and she'll never figure out why. I don't feel right just walking out paying nothing!

I am on my way out to try it. I hope I don't have these problems. I will have 2 screaming babies with me so that should make it a little easier for me to get through the checkout.

It sounds like maybe it was just that cashier and then CS just wanted to back them up. Don't most stores have the "right to reject any coupon" clause?

I hope you have better luck Maya! There was no one in the store. I saw one other couponer come in while I was at the register. Not a person standing in line, so they had all day to argue with me. Maybe if I go at a busier time I won't have problems.

Yikes! No problem here in Charlotte. I would definately been on the phone to CS. That is terrible! I'm sorry you had such a hard time.

I haven't been able to get out of the house yet to make my trip, but now I am nervous. :nervous: but I did find that there were better deals for somethings at HT with the coupons and sales (lipton teas, knor pasta sides, and progresso broth). so I crossed those off my triples list. I am going to shop at lowe's for the first time ever, and I am not sure what kind of couponing is going on there (kind of a nicer part of town and more money in the area) so I hope that I can get all the things I want, considering how late it is already getting. wish me luck!

I am in Raleigh as well and would love to know which store this is! Thank you Andra! I hope that if you go to another store later you have better luck. If you want I can tell you what 2 I went to this morning and didnt have any problems.

That's nuts! I'm so sorry you were messed up like that.
I went this morning (Cary/Apex) and had no trouble. Saved 93% with lots of freebies.
Sounds like that cashier is out to make sure no one saves too much money on triples.
I hope you have another Lowes - can you call ahead to a different store and ask what is their policy on that issue?
