Default Greenpoints -- spend or save?

Do you find it is better to save your greenpoints or to use them for free food items?

I have been saving awhile, but I don't get to LF very often.

I never do the free food thing. I save them up and spend them when they have that deal where you spend 1000 pts and get $1 off your final bill. I usually spend 5000-6000 pts when I do that and take $5-$6 off the total. Also, be sure to bring your own paper or plastic bags. You get 50 pts for each bag they use. Plastic probably works better b/c you can't fit as much as a paper bag. Just be sure to tell the cashier so they don't forget.

I save mine and get GC for Christmas gifts. Last year I got my niece a $25 Old Navy card and my nephew a $25 Best Buy card w/my greenpoints.

that is a great idea PHmom.

I usually use them every once in a blue moon to get $5 off my order but I think this would be better. I usually end up getting more points for the bags I bring in than for the money that I spend.

Me too - I bet over 2/3 of my points are from bags - LOL

It is especially good if you have older kids in your family who don't want anything but GCs for gifts. I can get toys for next to nothing for the younger kids but it's hard to get deals on GC so this helps a little.

Yes Suevin99, you can bring your own bags to the store to use, such as reusable bags that you can buy pretty much anywhere now.
I'm not sure if you bring your own plastic bags, it would count, maybe someone that knows can answer that ?

Yes, you can bring in plastic bags, but they must be Lowes Foods bags. If they are cloth or canvas bags then it doesn't matter if they have another store's logo on them.

I keep meaning to bring my own bags in, but I forget. Will have to start doing that, 'cause I sure don't get Greenpoints very often. :)
