WOW! WOW! Great job! You must be so proud!!!
I'm very excited by this, so I have to brag for a minute.
Back in January 2005, I approached dh's vets organization looking for help in $ for postage for sending expired coupons overseas to a base in Japan for our military families, and they loved the idea. The project just keeps growing and growing. We're now sending to 6 different bases with more people on this end contributing coupons and some small fundraising attempts to help with even more postage. I usually put together a bag or two of free stuff to raffle off at all of their meetings and I have a donation can down at the Vets Club too.
Anyways, I mailed off a 16 lb. box this morning to Japan, and with the total face value amount in that box, we've hit the million dollar's worth of coupons total.

The project has grown so much over the past few months that I can't even guess how quickly before we get to the 2 million dollar mark, but I know for sure it won't take us another 3 years to get there.
Just to give you an idea, our totals for the entire year of 2007 was 26 boxes totalling $404,461.23 and so far for 2008, we're at 8 boxes totalling $149,532.76.
So yay for us!! And yay for all the military families that we are helping to save money!!

That's great
That is great.Have ? for op.If you send your expired coupon to the military.Do you have to count the value of coupons for the military?I have a box to ship to a militaty collect site but I don't want to have to count up the value.I have thousands of expired coupons in the last 3 months.
No, it's not necessary to count them. We only count the ones that we send so that we can keep track of how big the project is becoming. It's easier for people to understand if we put a dollar figure on it rather than by weight or just saying that we've sent x amount of boxes over.

Thank you sbp for the information.
Hey Lesley,
Do you take donations of expired coupons? Are there particular things you need more than others, and how expired can the coupons be (in how long ago they expired)...
