Default 40% drop in grocery budget

This is a huge deal for me. Since I started couponing in October, what I pay for groceries (for my family of 4) has been going down steadily. During the summer while I had visitors it was around $1000-1200 a month *eeek* Then when I started in earnest, it dropped to around 600ish and now this month I'm on track for it to be $250!! I am super excited about that. With the stuff I learned on HCW, I don't think that number is going to be headed in the wrong direction anymore :D

Dont forget that some towns/states have stores that double/triple/stack coupons where others dont. So its really hard to base how good your couponing skills is compared to someone elses. Sometimes its not about what you know as much as it as to what you can do in your stores.

I cant double/stack except walgreens, and I very rarely shop there. I stick to Walmart, Dollar General, and Save-a-lot

I hear you. I have one store a Freds Dollar store that doubles one of like coupons on Sarurday up to .70 then sometimes for Mega sales I will drive 30 minutes one way to krogers. They double and top that with Mega sale prices then its worth the drive.

I do most of my shopping at walmart, General dollar and sometimes walgreen. I dont care for walgreens much tho. you really have to watch them or you will pay out more cash than you think you will in the end plus all to often they dont have whats on sale.

Wow. I wish I could do that. We did have one store that put out doubler coupons. They would give three each time with a limit of three per transaction. Of course now that I have plenty of $1.00 coupons I could use, they changed it to where they will up any coupon to $1.00. And do you think I have any for less than $1.00? Of course not.

I am really not saving much money by using coupons. This week I saved 50 whole cents. Yeah they would have upped that one but it was still cheaper to buy that item at a different store.

Congrats Prairiewild! That's quite an accomplishment for anyone and it is money you would have wasted, had you not been couponing.

Hang in there! Couponing is harder here in the Northwest, but still pays off. Hopefully, Albertsons will continue to offer the $1 doublers. Once in a while a round-up week is offered to change things up. They've done them a couple times in the past. Most of the time I'm not thrilled with round-ups, but this week I actually had some Qs that worked really well. I finally got to use some of the low value Qs that usually end up expiring. It just depends on what you need/have from one cycle to the next.

I know my being able to drive to kroger to get doubles and have it at freds on saturday for one of like coupons sounds good to some. So I dont mean to rub that in. I was just trying to say that some people have lots of stores they can shop at that has doubles/triples/stacks that is why they can spend so little on food ect each month for a family of 4,6,8 so on. I have cut my food ect bill down about to between 50% to 60% each month which the best I can do with the stores I have to shop from. Where others can do much better than that.

I just wanted to point out that we can not compare our savings to someone that lives where they have better coupon taking stores than we do.

Also know that my coupon savings for this month(jan well dec to) has not been that great. I have not been able to find that many useful to me coupons to use. I hope they inprove soon.
