My grandmother gave me that same type of gift and you know, out of all of them, that is one of the few i actually still remember! I just made up a brand new sterilite bin( good sized) of items just like you did for my cousin who is getting married, in PA. I cannot make it, so i took it to my moms with her "card" laminated to the top of the bin. Its just a real practical gift. They arent frilly by any means, so i hope its appreciated as much as the basket i received from my grandmother was.

I love it! My other fav bridal gift is to pick a type of pan or cooking item and then build around it. Like a crock pot and get recipes, cooking utensils and the "fixings" for one of the recipes (except the meat if fresh meat needed). Gives them a meal, a gift and the begging of recipes. I've also done something like this one for graduation presents. :)

What a great gift, and it looks so pretty.

I only remember one gift from my wedding. My grandmother went to the store and bought me a selection of good quality herbs and spices, some utensils, salt, pepper, cornstarch, and a few other staples you need on hand. She said it was because she remembered struggling to afford to have those things on hand to cook with when she was a newly wed. I don't think any of that is entirely why I remember the gift, though. My grandmothers and mother insisted every time I tore the wrapping paper on a gift, that meant another child. They reiterated this throughout the unwrapping of gifts, then gave me the package with all the spices last. Each spice, utensil, and staple food item was individually wrapped. With lots of tape. They really enjoyed razzing me over that.

Wow this is really great! It sure beats the 12 roll of cottonelle DH and I gave away a few weeks ago for his cousin's wedding (his family is so big they don't usually give gifts but we got a deal on this right before we drove down). I am definitely going to steal this idea!
