Thumbs Up 1st Extreme Couponing success... well, kinda

    Ok community, here goes ...

Today was my very first couponing success. I will elaborate in detail.

First I went to Wal-Mart and saved about $5 so was happy with my savings but all in all I basically just went shopping w/ a few coupons and felt like I did something...lol

    * Here is what I have to share though. Left Wallyworld and went to Lowe's Foods store where I purchased 3 packs of NESCAFE' brand Taster's Choice (House Blend) Instant coffee. (7 individual packets per box).

I followed a lady's advice on the hit tv show "Extreme Couponing" and found a male clerk instead of female(LOL). So, he rings me up and the total was $1.35 before tax. So I break out the equalizer... 2 Manufactur coupons for the Tasters choice (one for BOGO) and the other (0.65 of of any 1 box) the male clerk scans and the store computer accepts both via scan. Then I simply hand him 1 store coupon for $1.50 off when you purchase any 3 Tasters Choice prouct.

    Kachinggggg!!!

The grand total is.................... -0.06 cents. The store clerk hands me a nickel and a penny and I say thank you :)

So 3 boxes of Tasters Choice Instant coffee (total of 21 individual packs, which will last me about a week) for FREE??? I don't think so... they paid me.........................6 cents.

So my first dose of extreme couponing ... Now if I can only get like those people on TV

    Congrats on your savings!

Would you elaborate more on how genitalia equates to savings? I am not familiar with lining up deals based on reproductive organs. In my area we just hand the coupons to the cashier and they scan them with the register.

ha ha ... well idk I was kind of trying to be funny. I am a young 38yr old male who doesn't know didily squat about couponing..yet. The show extreme couponing had a lady who stated that she tries to find the male cashiers not the very older female cashiers (she said it not me) , so I figured that using 3 seperate coupons it wouldn't be a bad idea. Who knows maybe the less attention when using multiple coupons , quite possibly the better. Anyway, just posting my high spirits. Maybe you could share some ideas with me on this hobby.

    Congrats :)

Actually I shop for my cashiers too. I always look to see who is working and choose my favorites. In my experience male cashiers tend to give me less problems and are generally more agreeable about the coupons. And for that matter the older ladies do seem to be the worst lol

There is some truth to the value of different cashiers, but I've found 'coupon ****' cashiers can be either gender

I do have my favorite cashiers, they feel like friends, but when I get in line and know I've got all my coupons matched up and freebies on top and everything in order, I generally don't have any difficulties unless I screwed up and bought one item instead of two required on a coupon because I didn't read it right

Every store seems to have at least one cashier that people avoid and I have to agree, typically it's an older woman who pours over each coupon like you're trying to steal money out of HER pocket

I'm fortunate I don't have to suffer such fools, lots of same chain stores in my area and I can move to another location where they are more knowledgeable and customer service oriented.

A bad cashier gets a reputation pretty quick among couponers, as they should.

I too look for younger guys. First they seem to be more computer savvy and arent afraid to enter a coupon when the register says its wrong even when the coupon is right! Also, I hate going to the older women, especially the elderly, they seem to be afraid to enter anything by hand and I have had Ice cream melt in the time the spend reading and rereading the coupons. When I have to go to an older lady I make sure the pictures match the coupon 100% so as not to riskl any problems and before even scanning the coupon they will stand there reading it forever making me nuts and looking like there is a problem when there is none. I will only use an older woman if there is an emergency like a blizzard or a crazy holiday like Christmas, because then its just about getting in and out of the store no matter what. I feel sorry for the elderly cashiers but there really have to go with the flow, like computerized registers. A young male cashier told me once he only checks to see a coupon is not expired and does not care if it matches or not. I know expired is the big no no.
