I GOT A BRAND NEW KITCHEN STOVE FOR 70.00 AND other appliances......

HI, well, i am just soooo happy......

i thought i would share with you all.....

i have been having terrible troubles out of my kitchen stove (and all othr appliances )....

One of my top burners went out and then the oven... i wasn't worried about the top burner, but it was driving me nuts going with out the oven... i finally got the $$ to replace the oven part, and it worked for about 2 weeks, then the whole oven went out.........

AND i had just stocked the fridge with "oven " stuff....

so i called for a repairman.. NO Warrenty.. stove to old.... so went looking for a new one...... WAY WAY tooo much money........went looking for a used one and none to be found with in 50 miles of my house..... DH ws gone and i could not move it by myself.....LOL....

SOOOO any ways, DH came home because he broke down...... again....... (not goin there right now,,, i am tooo happy about my stove.)))

anyways, we went to this auction with my dad and mom and guess what they had?????????/

A BRAND NEW NEVER BEEN USED WITH WARRENTY GE STOVE>.................

Everything still int he packages etc... EXCEPT there is a 6 inch scrape across the front of the top rail... (don't know how to explain it.) but anyways you can see it from any dorection...LOL... but i am thinking that a little strip of mathcing material with my curtains and i could pretty much cover it...... it is the part that comes up behind the burners??? anyways NO matter what i do with it....... i am soooooooooo happpy...........

Now for the rest of my stuff.....

The dishawasher went out and the used washer that someone gave us when my other one went out............ went out again......LOL.......

I am NOT having ver good luck with apps this year.........

so anyways, the washer went out and i was able to fix it lasted about 2 weeks,,.. then went out again.......

so yesterday athte auction... they had a set of used appliances and they auctioned them off all at the same time........

DH got 2 dryers and one washer............FOR 25.00............... Not sure about anything on them... but worth a shot..... we have to go on Monday with a trailer to pick them up....... already brought the sotve home.....LOl.. it was all i could fit in the back of the surburban........LOL....



NOW FOR THE BEST PART....... ok, well other than the sotve..........

we have been looking and looking for a used freezer........ It is sooo hard to stock plie food with out one...... mom had a small chest one but of course it stays full.... LOl..

so between us we needed a new one.........

We finally found one..... 150 Dollars for a great big one........I AM SOOOOO HAPPY about that as well. and they delivered it for FREE.........

ANd to go with it.......... i had been trading like crazy for winetags..... and had just traded with a person on here for 163 winetags for 1.00 off meat, cheese, produce, bakery ,etc.........

And i still have 150 green giant coupons for 1.00 off and walmart will oreder them for me.......... LOL... i will have that freezer full by the end of the year..... Mostly because the winetags x by then........LOL...AND the freezer was plugged upa nd working GREAT when i bought it so i know it workkds.....LOL....

Anyways... i jsust wanted to share with you all..... you guys are great............


Now i need to post in the daily living forum about something else and please feel free to helpme out there.......LOL

Do not--I repeat, DO NOT--cover the scratch/scrape with fabric! Even if the stove is not gas (open flame), the burners will get hot enough to possibly catch the fabric on fire! If you feel the need to repair the scratch, go to an appliance store and purchase "appliance paint" in the color of your stove. Prepare the scratch (imo, I would sand lightly with sandpaper to ensure adherence of paint) then apply paint and let dry THOROUGHLY before using stove. This will not be a perfect fix, but will suffice with no danger of FIRE! Hope this helps!

Congrats on all the new appliances, and I agree with poster #2, please don't use fabric, its a fire hazard. Its just a scratch and having an accidental fire and losing everything is not worth it just for the vanity of covering up a lil flaw.

WOW...thanks.....for the great tip..... BUT if i used the same stuff as my pot holders would n't that be safe???? i mean they say fire resistance and stay on my sotve all the time?????? MAYBE i should fix that as well.....LOL.....I WILL SAY I AM NOT the greatest "home ec " person.......LOL.....

I have caught many things on fire.......I try but things like that are NOT my best subject....


are those silver potholders not ok to leave on the back of the stove?????

I will do some checking on that... and i will get DH to get some paint tomorrow at the hardware store...... thanks for the advice.......


Anyways, yes they were GREAT deals to me........ i was soooo HAPPY.. and my mom was there and she was jumping up and down as well....LOL....

and one of the dryers is going to be donated... we don't use gas, (scares me bad) and so DH said we can just donate it.......

How wonderful for you--I would be VERY HAPPY TOO, if I was you.

I do believe they have paint that you can use for your stove, I know they have spray paint for our pellet stove--that gets HOT HOT. I would check out like HD or L or even a place that sales wood stoves etc. That would be much better to use.

My pot holders burn. I read somewhere anytime you use fabric softener it messes with fire resistance. So far it's true for me.

So happy for you on the new appliances.

As for as the appliances dying - I have had times like that. Very frustrating to have to replace so many appliances so quickly.
I have started buying extended warranties. Always thought they were a waste of money until recently.

Can't emphasize this enough--PLEASE make sure it's "appliance" paint--it will be tempered to be used on a heat-generating appliance.

As far as your potholders, they WILL burn! Let your New Year's resolution be: I will practice fire safety! Hope this helps!

I had a similar scratch on my stove & used the appliance paint that they sell at lowes/hd. You can't even tell it is there unless you get up close. HTH you :)

HI, thanks... i am definatly enjoying my new stove... It seems to ccok hotter than my old one so we are burning a lot of stuff..LOL.. but we are using the non-burnable pans and that is helping some..LOL... .

Flame resistant stuff can burn!!! If it doesn't burn it can melt.

Sure, pot holders are designed to withstand heat, but not the kind of heat that a burner can produce and not for a long time.
