Great deal on the stove! My dryer went out last year and when we went to replace it I found a front loader dryer (the brand I wanted) with a small scratch on the front round part marked down $300 off at Lowe's! You can barely notice it even if you are looking for it because the lighting in our laundry room isn't the best in the world anyway. You can get a great deal with scratch and dent appliances. My DH wanted me to get the matching washer at the time but I waited because my old one was still working and I was waiting to get a good deal. Lowe's later had a great sale on the matching washer and also a rebate if you bought both the washer and the dryer. I got Lowe's to do a return and repurchase on the dryer I had purchased the month before so I could buy them both "together" and qualify for the rebate (thanks, Lowe's). We ended up saving about $550 on the set.

Sure, pot holders are designed to withstand heat, but not the kind of heat that a burner can produce and not for a long time.
Yep set an oven mitt on fire with my hand in it! I got it too close to the heating element. My boyfriend had been standiong in front of the sink (had dish water in it) I yelled "move!" and flung the flaming oven mitt in the sink. I still have a scar from where I actually got burned a bit.

I know all about appliances dying. we've had to replace the stove, fridge, washer and dryer in the last 2 years.
