Is this checker right??

I'm brand spanking new to shopping Longs...so today's experience has me wondering.

I bought 2 Maybelline Salon Expert nail polishes (ea 3.99)..used 2 $1/1 coupons for each bottle. Then I had the checker scan the Longs coupon in the ad for B1G1 maybelline products. But he said that he could only credit me 2.99 for the free one instead of 3.99 b/c that's what I actually paid. For some reason I thought it would be a 3.99 credit since that's the retail price?

I am not following the logic....
if you used two $1/1 coupons and the price was $3.99, your total price would be $1.99, so it isn't that he deducted coupons first... unless he deducted one from the $3.99 price, making it $2.99 and then used a price after a coupon to determine the bogo price...

Where did $2.99 come in? Was the product on sale?

If he just pulled a random price out of his hat, then he is wrong.
If the sale price was $2.99 each, then what he did is right.
If the price was $3.99 and he deducted one coupon making it $2.99 and then used that price for the bogo, then he is wrong and I would call corporate. (Since Longs is so localized and there are so few coupon shoppers there they really don't often know what they are supposed to do, so it helps them and us to call and let them know what happened and why it shouldn't have happened that way!).

I am still not sure I fully understand what he did though, lol!

Let me try to clarify......

both polishes were 3.99. I had 2 coupons for $1/1. And a Longs coupon for B1G1. So, I thought he'd either:

3.99
+3.99
7.98
-3.99 (B1G1 Longs Q)
3.99
-2.00 (two $1/1 mfr q's)
1.99


OR
3.99
+3.99
7.98
-2.00 (mfr Q's)
5.98
-3.99 (B1G1 at the retail price)
1.99

Either way, I don't see how the total could have come to anything other than 1.99?! He mumbled something like, you can't use them in conjunction w/ one another. I told him I knew I could use the MFR and longs q together, and he said he did them together. I had fussy kids and decided to just check my receipt and argue later.

Last time I went to Longs. I was told I couldn't use a MQ with the Longs Q. I emailed corporate and never heard anything from them.

I have never been able to use a manQ along with a Longs Q. The registers won't allow both. I emailed corporate and got a response along the lines of "we don't know if you can use both coupons, please tell us which store and we will direct you to the manager" - HUH? I thought that was totally weird. I have since stopped trying to use Man Qs with their ad Qs, and only go there if there is a BOGO SALE, not a BOGO Longs coupon.
