What do you do (other than couponing) to save some money?

here i was, thinking no one bartered, and .........someone mentioned it. i bring cold drinks to farmers market, and give them out. just walk up and ask the person at the register "would you like a cold drink?" . a stunning number will say"sure....how much is it?" and i ask for a smile. they normally then grin at you, and usually give you a bag of carrots, or oranges- i've been given a 3 pack of strawberries- an heirloom tomato plant- all kinds of things. at the VERY least, you get rid of a free can of coke, and you get a smile!

I keep the air conditioner at 78 during the day. I try and remember to keep a clean garbage can in my bathtub and take the water that I run to heat it up and water my flowers. I live in Florida so i bought the window tint to put on my windows to keep the heat out. (I haven't put it on yet) I also bought blinds that are linen and they are supposed to keep 70% of the heat out and you can throw them in the washer. Take leftovers to work. Buy and freeze fresh fruit when in season and on sale. I live close to the strawberry festival so when it is over we can get a flat of strawberries for $5. also my winn dixie reduced gallons of milk to 1.50 and I bought 4 and froze them.

Just a quick list:
1) Walk to the post office and work instead of driving.
2) Do the laundry during the middle of the night instead of peak energy hours.
3) Keep appliances unplugged when not in use.
4) Print my own pictures from home since I can pick the ones that get printed instead of wasting a whole roll of film on prints that may not have turned out well.

As for pictures...I've heard that it's cheaper to actually use a printing service than it is to pay for the photo paper, and the color ink. Plus, it looks better.

Then again, I can't remember the last time I actually PAID a printing service...other than for shipping. Gotta love those freebie deals :).

I got a bunch of dove face clothes as samples and I cut them in forths, where they are folded. They are great and were free.

When the soap product is empty, add a little water to the bottle, shake, and you'll be surprised how more you have left to use:
shampoo,
hair conditioner,
laundry soap,
dish soap,
dishwasher soap.
