- Lose at least 30 pounds
- Get my house completely organized
I think that's my only two goals :)
I read this on another forum and am reposting:
I was told by friends who know, that in Asian countries it is very much a tradition to sweep your home and person clean to bring in the new year truly new. You clean your house and place of business. You pay off all your debts (where the red envelope tradition started). You go through your belongings and get rid of what I call "excess baggage" -- anything you don't use and don't really need, throw it away or give it to charity. Start new and fresh.
What are your goals? I want to:
Now, your turn
- Quit throwing away ANY food. I did pretty good this year by posting the list of what was in the veg. bins, and leftovers, but I want zero waste this year.
- Use my "Cooking for Two" cookbook stash. Since there are fershure now only two of us.
- Keep my inventory up to date.
- Slow down on shopping and buy only what is on the list and only a bargain.
- Let my kids sort themselves out. I did the best I could.
- Lose weight. No, really. Lose weight. I have a cute little excercycle. And unlearn how to make chocolate mousse. (Learning that dish was a mistake!)
- Check the tire pressure on my car religiously because it makes such a difference on mileage.

Here is an awesome blog entitled the Zero Waste Home
I started a couple years ago, having at least one new yearly goal that would help the environment. This year I am going to stop using paper napkins. And my personal goal is to lose 40 lbs. My financial goal is to get a full time job with insurance benefits. Give me 12 months and I"ll let you know how I did.![]()
Good luck to everyone...My goals are to:
1. Lose some weight.
2. Do better on my couponing.
3. Stop buying for the kids, my friends, everyone and their mother.
4. Put the extra money that I am saving from #3 in a saving acct.
5. Same as MizMoneyPenny about the kids. I'm too old for the drama.
6. Give my extras to a nursing home. My charity for 2012.
7. Declutter the house and get organized.
8. Plan my meals better so it's not 5 PM and I have to throw something together.
7. Walk everyday.
I want to do better sticking to my budget and not buy so much junk. That said I have only bought non organic milk once in the past two months and it was 2 weeks ago. I finally come to terms with $5.29 a gallon is what I need to pay. I want to do more organics, and more grass fed meat. I want to take my grocery shopping down to once a week, to 2 stores with a light sprinkling of drug store in there, and warehouse once a month.
Eat out less, not that ee eat out a lot compared to others, maybe on average 1 time a week, I don't even enjoy it that much yet I let hubby talk me into it.
Have more homemade food prepared in the freezer so when I don't feel like cooking no big deal.
Make a weekly meal plan. Why is this so difficult for me?

1. Get Fit, Doesnt matter how much weight I lose, just as long as I feel healthier and I dont get out of breathe after playing with my son for a little bit.
2. Gotta make a list and stick to it at the grocery store. I have to stay within my budget..No ifs ands or butts about it.
3. Declutter my home this summer. This means getting rid of things that may be old and dear to someones heart, but if I havent seen it in years, then it needs to go.
4. Become more of a cook and make a weekly planner to stick to. Also make more of the Make Ahead meals to pull from freezer when Im not in the mood to cook
5. Try to make extra money to help ease the burden and possibly pay for christmas all together next year.

I will lose 30 lbs.
I will connect with friends old and new more often.
What a wonderful thread idea! This year I am committing to:
- Being in better shape. Losing weight is great but ... I'm tired of sitting on the couch / in front of a computer during the day and sitting in my chair / in front of a computer at work!
- Maintain a 50-70% savings for my couponing.
- Like previous posters, stop buying for my kids and family and buy something for me every once in a while.
- Declutter the house and get organized.
- Better meal planning. I used to have a weekly meal plan when I was on WW and stopped doing it because I was wasting so much food.
- Find out which meals are freezer friendly so I can do make-ahead meals [to help with the meal planning].
Those should keep me busy during 2012!!!
