Along the lines of free concerts, check local bar and grills for bands that might be playing. One bar here has a Beatles tribute band that's really good play every Friday night. No cover charge, so we buy a drink and listen to music for a couple of hours.

Do you own an entertainment book? We use the BOGO coupon for our local civic theater to get tickets for $8 each. That's less than the cost of a movie and it's live entertainment.
