Default What service do you use for internet and phone?

I called DISH a few minutes ago to inquire whether I was under contract or not. I got a better deal from Verizon for bundling TV, Internet, and phone. When the CS rep asked why I was considering cancelling, I told her that I got a better deal. She immediately offered to give me a $5 monthly credit for the next 10 months. Sure, why not?

It'll save you $50 over the next 10 months, so try it!

    Default Embarq internet deals

The previous person that posted a thread about DISH network reminded me of this. In Ohio, I'm not sure if it is in any other state, EMbarq now has an internet only service.

If you only use your phone line for internet, not home phone useage, check this out.

We are not able to get cable, (nor would we pay for it), the only option we have for internet is satellite (ya right), dial up with a phone line, or embarq which is DSL with a phone line. I called to talk with them about lower my rate I paid $60/mo which included home phone no LD and high speed DSL internet. I explained that we DO NOT even use the phone line. After several minutes of arguing:hectic1:, I finally was able to speak to a supervisor and he told me that now in OHIO they are offering just the internet, no new equip or fees, just 1/2 the bill!

Thumbs Up Saving money on internet tips that work for me

Okay this is mainly for people who use Time Warner Cable as their internet provider that pays full price (even with their "great" bundle deals. Did you know that Sprint offer cable internet to your area also through the same exact provider? Here it is brighthouse that does time warner and sprint. Sprint offer a promotion of 29.99 a month for 6 months when you first start. Also check around area for dsl and/dish packages. Get the lowest price you can fine for internet/phone and tv and notice that its probably less than you are paying now. Call up Time Warner and tell them you are ready to quit because you found a better deal. You really don't need digital phone if you have cell phone. I recommend Skype (3 bucks a month for nationwide long distance and with a good headset, it works as well as a phone. Plus you can do video chat which is awesome. So anyways find the lowest price on internet and tv (dish, etc.) and contact them and they will transfer you to a retention person. Their goal is to keep you as a customer and they will get you any discounts that they possibly can. The package I was on was 149 dollars plus taxes a month (dvd-r hd recorder/reciever, road runner turbo, and digital phone) They knocked my bill down to 100 a month for 12 months plus taxes. Then you could just call them again in a year and do same thing. It is time for the consumer to realize that they are the bosses and incharge of what they will pay for something.
I started a tiny wishlist HERE There is not many coupons I need will consider stamps or paypal in trades too.

Default What service do you use for internet and phone?

I am looking for ways to save money on phone/internet.

    Anyone have any great tips?

I am kinda leery of Magic Jack and Vonage because of the mixed reviews but I would love some advice on other services and how you like them.

I just switched from time warner. I got a new suprise bill this month of $180 for Phone, Tv, Interent.
We are going to use something called Voice Pulse. Its like vonage and magic jack. I cant do magic jack because i can't keep my phone number which i need for my daycare. its just like vonage basically and its only $22.00 a month.

Im doing away with cable completey and not doing satellite because i don't want a contract. we are doing hulu and netfil through our gameing consoles for only $25.00 a month.

    Keeping time warner internet though.

OP - there is a thread - I think started by 434Teresa - about the high cost of home phone service and there were a lot of replies and suggestions there that may help you too.

We have vonage..and it's about $40 now. We are looking to change to Ooma.

I personally think Magic Jack is not worth it unless you rarely use your landline.

we still use cable for our internet..(but we don't have cable for television).

    What is your's costing you?
