This is what I have been doing to replace my cellphones since 2008. I plan to continue purchasing non-smartphones through these avenues as long as I can. So far, DH hasn't cared much to get a smartphone. I only hope that continues. :)

My house was built in 1929 and looks it. I have cable only because it was my dad's dying wish that my step-mother pay for it. I have a smart phone, but, it is too smart for me. I need it for work, but, I don't know what to do with it. Rick has a phone for work. We have no landline phone. We don't have game thingys. We're too old. My laptop is about 10 years old and my desktop not much younger than that. We have a 1989 Oldsmobile, runs great, no A/C, that I bought from my step-mom for $200. We have a 2001 Buick Regal that my dad gave me when he bought a new car in 2005. No car payments and we try to keep them running as well as possible. I don't mind spending some money at the mechanics. I just don't ever want a car payment again. We eat out too much, but, we work funny hours and can't always get home for a meal. I have on old TV. I guess it's about 15 years old. Wouldn't know what to do with a new HDTV or a flat screen or whatever is out there now. If I can't win it in a sweepstakes, I don't need it.

My smartphone a galaxy S was a "guilt gift" after my ex left me for another woman. I have a 2009 Kia Rio basic that was bought new, my parent's insisted, and I WISH I had just bought used, but Oh well, I will drive it forever anyway. Do love the warranty on it. I do my own haircolor, and let my hair grow long so don't have the haircut upkeep. I do like keeping my nails done since I tear up my fingers when i don't have them on, no idea why? But not too bad when you just go for fills and not new sets all the time. I don't buy clothes often at all and would rather shop thrift shops for them, only one here, but when I move to Houston, it's ON! :-) I have a laptop ex built for $200 before he left, I get netflix and watch tv show online mostly, have an old 32" tv my parents gave me and no desire for a new one. I am going to buy a furniture set off craigslist for a few hundred bucks when I get my settlement for a car hitting mine so that will be taken care of. Got my kingsize mattress set for free from a friend and it's nice, just need a "bed frame" but too cheap unless I find one used that I like. Dressers were all given to me from family. My old full size bed my roommate will be using, so only have to get living room furniture, already have a coffee table and end tables my mom found at a garage sale for $25 bucks that are really nice. Pretty set up for moving, now just to save and stockpile for moving in Sept to the big H !! :-)

I'm not into latest phone craze altho DH got me the Droid because our contract was up and there was BOGO offer and we paid $50 for 2 phones and kept our plan while paying a little bit more for unlimited 'net browsing. DH is happy with it, so I"m happy even if I haven't tried out all the features of this phone.

Whenever we go to Best Buy, I look at the pink MacBook Air laptop with a twinkle in my eyes. I didn't tell DH I want one; he surprised me with one that he got a great deal with all his points accumulated plus GCs. It's paid for, so he's not paying interest on it. I'm speechless that he got me one (it's one of those I know you'll love this gift), I'm the happiest wife on earth

Droid incredible? We got the same exact deal. Couldnt beat it. we also got in on the unlimited data, which they dont even offer anymore

My one big wish has nothing to do with techy stuff... something we are actively looking for but have yet to find the "right" one is a Yamaha 4 seat Rhino UTV. We live in AZ with lots of state land with lots of trails all around us. We also have an OLD 1980 pop up camper that we will be taking up north during the summer. Truthfully the Rhino would come in handy.. Park the Van and off we go into the woods. We have regular cells, no ipads etc, we do have Direct TV but I want to cx that when our contract is up. Both our cars are newish.. 03 and 06 and both paid off... so crossing our fingers for our wish :)

Flat screen digital tv. We still have two older televisions. We are going to purchase one in the near future, I'm still in process of collecting more Target giftcards for it. Slowly but surely.

Quite a few things:

- No land line phone, just use our old school cell phones (no iphones, droids or any data packages here)
- I am 28 yrs old and still have the same bedroom furniture I got for my 12th Bday from my parents (they bought it used)
- My boys use the same bunk beds my DH & his brother used.
- No 2nd vehicle
- No iPads, but I did get a Kindle Fire for Christmas from my parents
- Childcare - unless its an absolute emergency. We are stationed in Hawaii and all our family is in NY. Our date nights are movies on Netflicks or a favorite TV show when the kids are in bed.
- No Designer clothes or more shoes than absolutely necessary
- We have iPods that are at least 5 years old & have no desire to upgrade for touch screen or smaller size
- We rarely eat out, unless family is in town visiting its hardly feels worth it with 3 small kids

I know there are more, ill add when I think of them. :)
