Have you looked into Clearwire?
We have AT&T for our phone service now and want to know a little about VOIP companies. We had Vonage at one time so I know they are good but have heard that there are other companies out there for about half the price of Vonage and just as reliable. Does anyone have another company they would recommend? Thanks.

Nope, I only know about Vonage. Do you use Clearwire?

I get VOIP thru my local cable company. I get cable (basic, no HBO or anything), Internet, & phone for $100 monthly.
I've used VOIP.com. I would have problems with cutting in & out, but I"m not sure if it was my internet or them.
I tried Magic Jack. For the price, it wasn't bad. But I couldn't have a local number (i live in the sticks that is down the road from the sticks).

I used Vonage for a couple of years. Only thing that sucked is when the internet went down, we had no phone. Other than that, it was great. But, we only talked on the phone for 1-1 1/2 hours a month, so found a cell phone service that is only going to run us $20 every 3 months or so, since we barely talk to anyone. But, yeah-Vonage was great for us.
I would like to know of a reliable, cheaper voip as well. We are using vonage right now as it was the least expensive way for us to go at the time. We live where the cell phones won't work. Vonage just raised their prices on us and we have not had them 6 months yet. Vonage has been good service but they are already raising the prices. If the power goes out or the internet goes down we don't have a phone. We keep a trac phone for emergencies that we buy mins for as we need to. We don't give out the trac ph number so we don't waste those mins. We buy the least amt of mins we can at a time (60) and try to use them up before they will expire. Our families are all long distance and out of state so we need free long distance service. One thing I don't care for is Vonage only uses auto debit for payment. They dont send a bill, they take the money from your account every month and then email you that they debited your account. I really don't like anyone having access to my account, but that is the only way you can use vonage. I would like to find a company that is reliable and will let me send my payment myself.

We recently changed to Vonage from AT&T. The rate is very good we have the monthly charges billed directly to our credit card. We need a little assistance getting started and the customer service was very good. Sometimes a little difficult to understand, (from India i think) but very helpful. Good luck. We are very happy with the service.
