Default haggling for items from furniture to jewelry

I saw on a guy on the local news talking about haggling for anything. He said to go online and google whatever you are looking for +markup. Like Jewelry+markup. It shows that it is normally marked up between 100 and 200 percent. Knowing this you can talk your way down in the price of the item. He's done this with everything he owns. Even services. I'm not looking to buy anything major at the moment, but when I do I will give it a shot.

I saw where a lady does this at the grocery store...

She goes in when meat is about to expire like two days before and she asks if they have marked down their meat yet... She usually gets anywhere from 30% off to 50% off depending on the day it expires... I've often thought about that when they are clearing out the shelves... Would they give it to me for less?? Think I might try it soon...

DD just bought a car and did the whole deal with out her trade. Out the door price...
Then she said what if I had a trade? They offered her more than blue book so her price was like 1200 less than she negotiated in the beginning.

    She's lovin her new/used car!!

I do this with my neighbor who is a hair stylist. I exchange things from my stockpile that she needs for the price of my haircut. Works out well.

I also did some haggling on the leather sofa I bought a few years ago too. I went to look at it and left 3 times in a month before coming to price with them. This was a small indep. shop though.
