Coinstar - gift cards

I just read yesterday I think in Real Simply mag that you can get gift cards from coinstar machines and you are not charged the fee. Is this right? Amazon.com card was mentioned in this case.

yes, there are other giftcards that you can get as well...starbucks, home depot, amazon....linens &things...i think...but there is no fee when getting a gc only when you choose the cash option.

OMG how cool! I'll have to check out my coinstar next time i'm there to see if they have the G/C option that would be NICE as well :)

Yep- I do this all the time. I am a starbucks addict and I just throw my spare change every week on a card to reload when at the grocery store. LOVE IT!

Dumb question...the machine doesn't give you an actual gift card, does it?! I can't imagine a plastic gift card spitting out?

thats sweet! I never use the coinstar machine because I always thought it was dumb to waste money on the fee when I can count and wrap my own change for free. But knowing that I can convert my change easily into Starbucks money is just too cool! Now all those found pennies can contribute to my tueday night treat!

I had no idea either and I used to use them all the time. Shows you how much I read fine print.

This has just opened up the whole new world of online shopping for me as we ccd's.
