I'm a little north of all of you, but this thread got my attention. I'm in KS, and we have Dillons, which is Kroger-owned. I haven't tried stacking since the Mega Sale ended a couple of weeks ago, mostly because there hasn't been anything thrilling going on sale-wise at Dillons since then. I was shocked to hear how some of the Kroger cashiers are acting, and am really sorry to hear about the problems some of you are having - it sounds like many of the cashiers who are acting this way are grossly uneducated on couponing, and need to learn the rules. It's also not fair for Kroger corporate to presumably change the rules in the middle of the game, and not inform the customers or employees. That's a recipe for bad PR.
The rub on this whole situation is, if you let them scan your card first, it will take off those EQ's, and the system tries to reject the paper Q's. If they scan your paper Q's first and THEN scan your card, there's a possibility that the system may not double/triple those; that has happened to me, and you'd better believe I went right to the service desk to have it resolved!
Whoever at corporate came up with this scheme needs to have their head checked...as does whoever dropped the ball on communicating it to the general public. A simple note on the website, in the stores, or in the print ad would have gone a long way to eliminate a lot of the confusion and frustration.
If IPs beep the cashiers are NOT suppose to take them in general.
So if you wanted your electronic coupon voided because it doesn't double, we would double the damn thing! Of course, at our store we are all about the customer.
We are still taking electronics and paper coupons.
