I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
I let a week go by, to see if I felt any differently, to see if I overreacted last week. But yesterday when it was time to go grocery shopping again, I could not go back to that store, on W. Lake Houston in Atascocita. Customer service is so bad, so non-existent, that I have had enough. Last weekend the cashier ignored me completely (nothing new) so that she could ask question of a mentally handicapped worker who bags groceries on weekends. I was so infuriated at her attempts to embarrass him in the name of her supposed 'conversation', I left there mad, again. And for the last time. I sent (another) angry e-mail detailing all that happened and said don't bother calling me this time, I'm done. No amount of savings is worth leaving the store feeling ignored and angry every single time.

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
Your right, you shouldn't leave the store feeling angry and ignored. Instead of sending an email to corporate or even going to the store manager (which is probably possibly part of the problem - good managers tend to have good employees), I would try calling the regional/district manager. I have said this many times... going to store managers is usually of no use - cause often times they are part of the problem - particularly if the problem is mostly throughout the entire store. Going to corporate also not good, they are the top but they have too many things to deal with and are too far removed from the actual store itself....but district managers/regional managers are the key - when you talk to them, they know what store you are refering to, they know who the management team is at that store without even having to be told... they are kind of who the store managers answer to.... they are the most apt (in my opinion) to help fix the problem. That being said, if you start out by telling them, you will never go back - it makes them feel at a loss - they aren't even being given the chance to make it right for the customer and have you be a returning customer. Know what I mean?

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
Yeah I know exactly what you're saying. The thing is, and I wasn't entirely clear, is that this is not the first, or third, or 10th time I've had issues with this store. I've talked to the managers, the service managers, the DM, the regional manager has called me twice. Always very apologetic, very sincere, they swear they do not condone or accept sub-par service. The thing is, I've heard it so much I just don't believe them anymore. Beyond the store level, yes they want my business, but when I'm there, with cash in hand, I don't matter. Enough. I just wanted them to know why.

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
Our kroger stores here vary by neighborhood - some of them are great and some really bad. Unfortunately the one closest to my house is really "ghetto". They are trying to remodel and the store manager is nice, but I haven't gone in since the last time I had to complain a couple of weeks ago. She even offered me a gift card, but I just figured it wasn't worth it to deal with the hassle. I have been going to the stores that are a little further away instead. Fortunately, I have about half a dozen krogers within 10 miles of my house - but it would be nice if I could use the closest one - especially with the way gas prices are now. (The Kmart across the street is the same way and so are a lot of the fast-food places, so it is just the neighborhood mentality on that side of the main street near my house. My biggest frustration is that you can't even find anyone to help you that speaks English ..... ugh!)
Yep, I think you should definitely let them know what you think and vote with your money by going elsewhere.

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
I know what you mean...although for me it is Walmart and I will not be shopping there anymore. The last time I was there, returning an item, the lady at customer service didn't say one word during the whole transaction...even went so far as to fan the bills I was going to get back and wave them in the air, then plunk them in my hand. Very rude to say the least... Hope you find a better experience elsewhere!

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
i drive WAY out of my way when theres good sales to specifically go to the store ur talking about. there have been a few problems there for me but for the most part people are nice, and helpful. the one closest to me is on bw8 and woodforest. i dont go there at all if i have coupons. ive been accused of coupon fraud (those specific words yelled out in front of a busy self checkout) numerous times, and had a serious issue with a cashier who was DRUNK. store managers didnt even attempt to pretend they were siding with me, they basically said i was full of crap and committing coupon fraud.

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
I went to the BW8 and Woodforest location with my mom during the Christmas break. It was awful. The $3 Catalina didn't print and they didn't care. They said that they had moved the registers and some of them weren't hooked up right. I had to go to CS and they seemed annoyed that I was there. It is the location that my mom uses most. Since she doesn't use coupons, I just load the e-coupons on her card that for things she buys.
On the other hand, The stores near me have been great!

Re: I am absolutley finished with Kroger.
I can understand your frustration. However, maybe it's just time to take a break and shop elsewhere. I love Kroger and my store on W. Gray is fantastic.....but I've had issues from time to time and just try to breathe, relax and let it go.
You can choose to spend your dollar anywhere.....it is totally not worth the feelings of frustration you describe....esp. since you have gone to so much trouble to try to make management aware. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that poor or incompetent service is usually the result of bad training. So, in a nutshell....crappy management makes for crappy employees! I don't like HEB, but it's right down the street from the West Lake Houston store, why not give them your business for awhile? After some time, try Kroger again. I wish you luck and peace and remember it's just grocery shopping.
