Different stores, different rules on coupon acceptance.

Tess, I'd talk to SMgr and see IF that is his/her policy, or if cashier spvr decided. If it IS SM's policy, and you have another store (and know their policy), you can "pull a jaws" and politely and calmly state why HIS location's sales will go down. (Might be nice to pull your receipts and see how much your sales (before Qs) were, and how much it cost that location in your d/t Qs ... always nice to have FACTS!) Don't be surprised if just shrugs and says that's your choice ... just smile and leave!

Goldie, I'm one of those folks that tends to introduce myself to SM. If we're gonna do business, I want boss to know me (I get it from my pop, he was that way). Ask his/her policy on coupons because you realize corporate allows managers to have different acceptance policies, that you'd like to shop in that location, but want to be informed before you get to the register. I often use the example:

ok, so if I have 3 identical coupons for 25¢ of one widget, and I pick up 3 widgets, how many of those coupons are going to triple?
IF they say "unlimited," I usually respond, "so, if I had 500 of them, got 500 widgets, all 500 would triple????!!!!"
    If say "YES!"
"Then, sir/ma'am, let me shake your hand, because we're going to be friends ... as long as you continue that policy! I just found my new favorite store!"

If they say 3 d/t, I thank them for their time and find something to compliment about the store.

Every so often, I call around different store locations and verify the Q policy. If I get, "I think ..." I politely explain that I need to speak to someone that KNOWS for sure or for them to verify, as I'm going to be driving 20 miles in order to come to their location, and do NOT want to be disappointed when I get to the checkout register.
Then, I get the name of the person that provides the info, and note the date and time.
When I get to the store, I go to the svc desk and ask again, just to verify. If I get a difference answer ... you got it! I want to politely, let mgr know that his folks are giving conflicting info, and I want to know what is correct. (If SM doesn't know something's "broke," he can't fix it!)

When I find a favorite store, I make it a point to keep my eye out for the SM about once a month, and find something about the store to compliment ... employees, stock, general appearance, etc. -- I want to keep my face fresh in his mind, so when/if I have a problem, he knows who I am! -- I don't want SM's only contact with me to be problems!

I had a differnt problem that I had wrote them about and they just laid all the go by rules for the stores in my area out there for me in the email they sent me back.. I was happy for I had it in writting...I even told them the address to the store I shop at...I have to dive 30 minutes one way so when I go I have to make it worth my time and gas..

I was only able to use 3 like coupons yesterday (Garth Rd, Baytown TX), had about 36 total items (30 were mega sale), they wouldn't take the fourth $1 off Nestle cookies, or the fourth .45 off 3 cans Del Monte tomato products. I expected the .45 fourth q would be face value, and of course the $1 Nestle q would all be face value. I was in self checkout and the cashier paged the manager, he brought the two q's to me and said something like "there is a lawsuit and we can only take 3 of each coupon, the sale will be going on for another week, you can come back tomorrow and use these". I have no idea what he meant by a lawsuit? I said , "is this a new policy, I've always been able to use more than 3 like q's before at this store". He didn't answer the question.....I don't have a problem with the rules if I know what they are, learning about it at checkout is not the time! I'll see what happens after the mega sale is over, this store does still double up to 3 q's (I didn't have any that were eligible to triple)

I have learned that self checkout is the worst for coupons, i always look for the highschool boys! They just push everything through no questions asked.

Goldie, don't know bout your store, but ones I go to alternate the self-check folks ... I pick and choose on that line, like on the regular registers, if I have a doubt!
