    TIPS Filler Suggestions

Please share your suggestions for "filler items" for when your total could go below zero and you want to use the overage for other items (OR when you know a cashier will give you the evil eye for a zero total and you want to pay at least SOMETHING). I am sick of buying the same old lone banana for .18 or Maruchan ramen noodle soup for .15 so if you have any suggestions please reply These are the least expensive items I know that Kroger sells, but sometimes its helpful to have suggestions in the .75 and higher range. Thanks everyone!

check for the closeout gum/candy at the register ... think usually about 60-80¢.

Check the "closeout" bins in the store.
I have a list that I total as I go ... I make sure I have about $2 extra items if I'm cutting it close.

No Yolks noodles - 50¢Q, think it makes them $0.39 each
    Ragu $1.25 -- MQ got from Fiesta 50¢ = $0.25ea
    Morton Sea Salt $1.99 - 50¢Q - $0.99 each (the cardboard, fatter cannister is $1.69, I think)

Might go through the cheap/free thread and see what things you have Qs for, like, and that you can pick up and cover any overages!

First off, I would like to know what deals at Kroger that you are getting that your total is coming out at zero or below - that never happens to me..... But my suggestion for fillers would be treat yourself to something you like - candy bar, soda, whatever it may be that you wouldn't ordinarly buy - because obviously if your total is that low - you can afford to splurge a little and get something you really want.

Hi Doglover. The Sierra Mist is free after the Randalls Q. I also have $1/1 Qs for free Franks red hot sauce, .35/1 Softsoap and $1/1 Mirra items so these items are free too. The colgate wisp 4-pk is also on clearance for .99 so free after the Insert or .24 after the .75 eQ. I often buy Qs for free items if its an item I need. Since I can only use 3 at a time I have to do a lot of transactions and it can be awkward having a zero total with some cashiers. Thanks for the tips Jaws!

Anytime I have overage I always get meat with it. That is when the overage is high. If it's only .50-.75 I would get a loaf of bread or something, maybe in the clearance area...mine usually has hotdog or hamburger buns, or .50 for a loaf of off brand bread. Breads, meat, milk, eggs are things that are hard to get free so using free overage for those just cuts down the cost on those items!
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!

    taco seasoning packs.
    gravy packs
single frozen burrito (or my kroger has these huge "bigger then your head" ones for $1 in the deli)
one or two pieces of deli cheese
one or two pieces of deli meat

these are usually under a $1. or stick with the banana, apple, orange or onion -small ones of course!

and if asked why the deli meat/cheese you only need a couple. i tell them that my grandma only needs a piece or two and she likes it packaged this way. never a complaint out of them
    SWAGBUCKS! . EARN GIFTCARDS!
