well I have to drive (with 3 year old twins)30 minutes one way to get a krogers(no coupon bin either)plus I think kroger is to high unless items are on sale/mark down of some kind.......................the only store that I have in my town that doubles is Freds dollar store only on saturdays and its one of like coupons. So when I see these post where you are mad because you can only double one of like coupons per tranaction it kind of gets on my nerves, you need to count your blessings that you have a store or stores in your town that doubles at all. I have the one and its only on satuday but I know others that I trade with that dont have any stores that ever double coupons, I am really one of them for Freds is a very small store and dont have much of what I use but I do try.
So be happy you ahve stores that are close by that doubles they could stop it all together.

But see that is my problem now. There are no stores close by me that double. I was driving 40 minutes one way just to get to a Kroger because they double 3 like coupons. But now that they're only doubling one coupon it's not worth it for me to have to pack my kids up to drive 40 minutes one way for only one coupon to be doubled. We just got a Fred's in our town but I didn't realize they double coupons on Saturdays. Thanks for the info - I'll have to check that out.

The main reason I posted this was to kind of give people a heads up that some of the Krogers are changing their policies and to check it out before they shop so they don't get caught in the check out line and get a bad surprise, not really to complain much.

ok you did not say that before. It is so hard to drive that 30 min with two littles and I know only people with little ones understand that. 30 min is like 2 hours in a car with two 3 years olds unless they fall alseep, not to mention shopping with them.

A lot of people dont know that Freds double on saturday. Each store has their rules on it tho. At my store its up to 75 cents and only one of like coupons but they will let me pay two times or make repeat trips but like I said my store is small. I go like one time a month for toothpaste and that kind of stuff. It has some food but not very much at all, lots of candy tho...

Actually they did not change the policy, they changed the programming to match the policy. Written policy (according to the Customer Relations manager) is that one like doubles/triples and all others are face value.

I am sorry your store has done this. Hopefully they will change it back(it has happened at a couple stores in Houston)
I know what it is like to have zero doubles (I grew up in the land of no doubles and a monopoly grocery store)

Well, when we all start going elsewhere to get our groceries cheaper. Maybe they will wake up.
I usually go to Walmart if I do not have a coupon. Even with just face value I still get some things cheaper. That is if you want to deal with walmart.

Or we could throw a fit.

I drive an hour to my store that doubles. It's a Dillons...which is a kroger store but thanks heaven on earth...it's not conforming to Kroger's dumb coupon policy.

I can double one, three, 57, or 4543890380 (if they have that many in stock)

and I only go when my three children are not coming with me . It usually takes me hours...and I go at least 3 times through the store...cause I can't fit everything in one or two carts .

Went to Krogers yesterday---no change here...only 3 like coupons will double/triple at a time. I hope they don't change it to just one...I am spoiled on doubling/tripling!

I talked with one of the employees at our Kroger in Alexandria and this is what she said

"Kroger wont double 3 anymore..the policy is one and ppl were abusing the policy...doin coupon shoppin...not really shoppin and using coupons..using coupons to shop.."

    My reply . . .

" I don't see how people could have been abusing the policy though if it was the computers that were doubling 3 like coupons. That to me would have been Kroger's fault and not the peoples. Besides most people don't know the policy - they just go based on what the computers do. I'm one of those couponers. I'm not rich like everyone else so I spend my grocery budget every week on what's on sale cheap and what I can get a good deal on using coupons."

I know a couple of people who work there and we were talking about it more. They say they had to get strict on couponing because they had a lot of people giving coupons for products they didn't even have and trying to use coupons illegally instead of the way they are supposed to be used buy purchasing incorrect amounts of products, etc then holding the lines up arguing with the cashiers.

Shame that the dishonest couponers of the world are causing stores to get stricter on coupon usage or stop allowing coupons all together.

    Jojaby:
I have a girlfriend who I've tried to 'get into' couponing. The other day she told me "My Kroger registers don't even match up the coupons to the items, I know because I gave the lady ALL my coupons the other day, which accidentally included one for an item I decided not to get. It didn't beep or anything. Does your store do that? I'm going to try again next time"

Um, NO!!! I was so livid, I had to stop the conversation and chew her out because A) It's illegal, and B) It's just morally wrong! UGH!!
And to think, I went to the trouble of going to the store manager when the CASHIER did something shady with my coupons (all whilst I was protesting)!
Just goes to show you, one bad egg can ruin the whole bunch!
Luckily, I think my 20 minute diatribe on my 'thoughts' about her (gf) trying to pull her shenanigans intentionally set her straight. We'll see.
If not, I may just call up her store and report her! :(
