    QUESTION Sunny D

KG has an amazing deal on Sunny D. Unfortunately my fridge is small. Does anyone know, from experience, if Sunny D HAS to be kept refrigerated if unopened?

At my Kroger's they have it on an end cap not refrigerated, I wasn't going to get any because my fridge is still dedicated to all the CHEAP Kraft cheese (over 40 lbs of it), and DH (who stocked at Kroger's) told me that I had better get as many as I have Q's for (said that we could stash them in the closet if we have to).
DH just turned 25 yrs old, YEAH insurance went down by over $130.00 a month.

We stash these on the floor of out pantry all the time. At $.03 a botle this time, I bought all we had coupons for. So, we already had about 15 bottles, and now we have another 20. Just watch the expiration date, which is usually a couple of months. My first batch will be expiring in October, and the ones I got this weekend will expire in November.

I found this for you online, it's from a FAQ on sunny d.
However I don't have direct experience with this product as I don't usually buy it.

    Also pasted below:

    Q:
Does Sunny Delight need to be refrigerated?

    A:
Sunny Delight is enjoyed best if it is kept in the fridge and served chilled. Sunny Delight has to be stored in the refrigerator because it is produced using a high quality filling technology which requires the product to be stored for a short shelf life and chilled. If the product is kept out of the chilled chain there will be significant degradation in product colour and taste, vitamin deterioration, and some microbiological spoilage. Sunny Delight should be consumed within 8 hours of taking it out of the fridge.

Oh wow! Good to know! I have seen Kroger & Albertsons stocking Sunny D outside the fridge, now I know not to buy those. Thanks!

Now, that's confusing info from Sunny D ... the bottles on shelves (outside refrig) don't appear to have ever been cold (labels intact, tight, etc).

I don't have a bottle in front of me, but what does the label say? "Keep refrigerated after opening" ... or "MUST be refrigerated (at all times)"??
    OR "Best when refrigerated"?

If it's the second, I'd have no problem storing out of fridge.
One of my sisters drinks all the time, and stores in pantry ... and she's "picky" about storing things.

Since Sunny D does have a small amount of actual juice in it, it could spoil, at least in theory. I personally think there is so much preservatives in our processed food today, that you could keep it on the shelf for years and not taste much of a difference.

But ANYHOO, if you look on the USA version of the Sunny D website, (www.sunnyd.com -> About Sunny D -> FAQ) then it says essentially that the item is shelf stable and drinkable until the date on the bottle .. unless the item was sold refrigerated, then it should stay refrigerated.

AGREED! had some twinkies, noticed were "best buy" a month ago ... no mold on them ... (threw out, anyway!)

This makes more sense to me.
