Domino Sugar 2lb box $$

Forgot to mention this a couple of days ago ... stopped in Krogers a minute to look for blinkies ... anyone else noticed the price of Domino Sugar 2lb box lately????

Just about fell out ... shelf tag now says $1.85 instead of $1.59 ... so, now with 35¢ Q tripled is
$1.85 <1.05> = 80¢ instead of 54¢ ...

As I look at the 80¢ for 2 lbs of sugar, I'm still thinking that a 26¢ increase is a lot ... on the other hand, besides couponers, who's going to get sugar for 40¢ a pound?!
... guess the stores are already "gearing up" for holiday shopping/baking ... gee thanks ...

FYI, checked the prices on other sizes, as well:
4lb "can" $3.49
4lb bag Reg $2.49 --> $2.29 to 9/23/09

actually, figuring cost on price/lb, the 4lb bag would be $2.29 <1.05> = $1.24 for 4lb = 31¢ per pound (higher oop, but less per pound) ...so, just depends on which you'd rather save on!


Also go the prices on several of the coffee items, some pizza items, and Lipton Tea. Will try to get those typed and sent to ZM for price list in the next few days.

Actually, they could be gearing up for the holidays, but recently on the news they said sugar was going to be going up due to some severe weather conditions. My hubby told me about it right after my mom stocked up on .99 domino 4lb sugar at Brookshire brothers and I didn't get but a couple. That hurt.
