Yikes! was wonderful but am super tired!
First-a BIG THANK YOU to the lady with the basket idea...it worked out great!
Also went to the 24 hour Kroger's in Shreveport---got there at 10:30pm Friday nite and was able to checkout at 12:18am...am so happy with my bargains! Got tons of hygiene stuff for my Soldiers and and spent $120.08 on $426.17 worth of stuff...would have been better without the tax though. Had planned to shop through the nite---but as I was leaving, they were shutting down the store for a waxing crew...dumb! They re-opened at 6am. By this time I had seperated what was a good deal from what I could live without...did find out that the register would take 3 like coupons, and the clerk was ever so nice when she saw how much stuff I had.

Went to Bossier to do the meat and frozen foods...again, very nice clerks, but a lot more people!

Luckily, I had a friend along to help...so, we have put away our stuff and will be napping soon.

I hope everyone saved alot of money and had fun!!!!

Love the pics! I'm going to take some later too after I organize it all, but I need some rest first. Sounds like everyone did a great job on savings.

My totals (I think I'm done, but who knows? Maybe I'll go back out.)

Item Count : 390
$ Paid: $101.48
$ Saved: $737.57
$/Item: $0.26

I went to 4 different Krogers and did 16 different transactions between midnight and 2 pm today. I budgeted $120 for the sale, so I've still got a little jingle in my pocket! One transaction they actually paid me $1.94, I'm still not sure how that worked but she insisted. I've also got $27.50 worth of rebates to send off, and a $3 oyno left. Woot woot!

I got to the Garth (Baytown, Tx) 24 hr store about midnite, IMO they were poorly prepared. Only one regular checkout line open, the self serve (4) were open but a lot of shoppers didn't want to try & check out a big basket in the self serve line. Stock was already being depleted on some items by 1:30 am
(the dairy area was in pretty good shape, although the Eskimo Pie was already gone!) One other major problem was the stockers, some of them literally blocked the aisles with all the boxes while they are stocking. Almost like they don't want you to come down the aisle and interfere with their work.
(I realize in a 24 hr store this is the normal time to restock, however I wouldda thought the manager might tell the stockers something like, "heads up, we're likely to have a BIG crowd in here around midnite, these couponers are SERIOUS shoppers, be as helpful as you can working around them". Hey, I can dream, can't I). I would guess a lot of folks spent twice as much time waiting to check out as they did shopping, it was a worthwhile 3 hour trip for me.

Thank you so much to everyone that helped put the spreadsheet together. It really helped me get my list sorted. There were only a couple of things on my list I couldn't get and I think that was because my Kroger doesn't stock them anyway. Shelves were almost full as they were constantly being restocked.
It was fun seeing so many people wandering around with coupons.
I did really well. Spent $32.85 and saved over $100 with my coupons. Total savings were 76%. I was delighted

Almost forgot to say...didn't even have to get in line to check out. The person ahead of me was just leaving.

Wow...you guys have all done great! I haven't clipped coupons in over 4 weeks...:sad:..so I had to just rely on what I had in my binder.

Spent $62.15 and saved $110. Not nearly as impressive as the rest of ya'll.....but I can't complain!

I chatted w/ the floor supervisor and asked her if she thought Kroger will continue doing this from time to time and she said she thought they would, as it was a huge success. I went at 2 pm today and only a few items were wiped out.

Hit the Kroger on Buffalo Speedway (the one competing with the new HEB) for the free cereal, rice krispy treats, and fruit snacks. BF & I got there at 11:45, and were out at 2:20 with 4 carts full. They were very well prepared, stock-wise, for the sale, although their cashiers were a little frazzled - but were still fantastic! It was fun to see all of the other hard-core couponers out and about at that time of morning!

Went out early this afternoon to pick up another 2 carts of things we hadn't had time to get last night. I haven't had a chance to tally up the receipts, but we got around $700 worth of products, and our out of pocket was $16.76, with $22.49 to send in for rebates. We really aimed only for the free or super cheap items. I know we got alot of overage on our coupons, as the clerks at 2am were just pushing everything through.

Here's a picture of everything crammed in the Jetta...I'm amazed it all fit in our tiny car!

Kroger Super Doubles - a set on Flickr

Thanks to all who helped compile the great lists!

This was so much fun !Thank you to all the people who helped with the prices and lists for this sale! You made life a lot easier.I went to 3 stores today I started at 6am The first store I went to was pretty well stocked but because it is a smaller store it didn't carry alot of things. the other 2 were hit with alot more couponers but still had alot of stuff. I did notice something strange alot of the prices went up today at all three stores.Anyway I bought 172 items and paid 29.71 it took 12 transactions because no one at the stores mentioned that it was ok to use 3 like coupons .It was a great day and I really hope this is a start to many more super doubles to come

My buddy and I started at 9:20 last night and finished checking out around 1:45. We saw about 20-30 other couponers, and we are rather small towners. I don't know about stock b/c we were the first ones there. Only 2 check out lanes, though.....at times lines were 4 people deep. I did 11 transactions.

oop-34.36
total saved 326.03
items-148

We had a system of numbered bags that corresponded with numbered envelopes that contained our coupons. As we took an item off the shelf, we placed it in the correct bag. This definately helped at the register. It was a long night, but, if course, a total rush! I went to bed at 5:00 am after unloading, and while I was sleeping in, my family ate a whole box of snickers and m&m icecream--I only had qs for 3 total. Please wait a few days before depleting my hard earned stock!! I have way too much stuff to hide from them!:hectic1:

Default Re: Kroger Super Doubles - How did it go?

My Kroger in North Dallas was fantastic. I only missed out on Rice Krispies treats, but I got a bunch at Walgreens, so not a big disappointment. I was expecting long lines but was really surprised that there were no more than 2-3 carts in each line. And they moved really quickly. I figured out why once it was my turn - they had managers at the registers and bagging! The aisles were pretty packed, but manageable.

I ended up getting $175 worth of stuff for $38. I am going to head back out for cat food, batteries and some other non-perishable items that I need to re-stock at home.

I spent several hours last night going through all my coupons and pulling out what might be end up being a deal with double coupons even though I planned to go primarily by a modified version of the HCW spreadsheet. I ended up finding a few things I wasn't planning to get like cheap Iams cat canned food (which may be on the spreadsheet, but I didn't see it when I was getting coupons together). I also used several coupons from the Kroger mailers to get canned beans and cat food. And I made an impulse purchase (rare for me) of Purevia because I wanted to try it and had a $1/1 coupon. Not cheap, but I haven't seen it on sale yet.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the spreadsheet! It was a huge help.
