QUESTION Problem w/25.00 rx transfer vs coupons. please help *UPDATED, spoke to CS*

Hi everyone. I hope someone can help, so far, the employees don't know a way around it. Anyway, when i did my rx transfer using the q in last weeks ad, I got the 25.00 gc but not in the form of a card, they added it to my kroger card. great! one less thing to take care of right? WRONG!

today, i went in to grab milk and chicken. had q's for all of it. I did self checkout like always. as soon as my total came up, the cashier hit the button and boom, my total was deducted from my 25.00. I was'nt given a chance to use my q's.

come to find out, he was supposed to ask me if i wanted to use it ( he did not) so i ended up going to customer service to get my money for the q's. so, it seems it's a one or the other type of situation.

this sucks for me because i usually have low OOP due to q's. I thought i was going to be able to continue to use my q's and use the gc to cover the low OOP. no luck.

    anyone else? TIA

so I'm guessing you asked if they could take balance off Kroger card and put onto GC and they said no?
then again, I'm pretty tired right now, so I know I'm missing something ... but wouldn't your oop still be low if you were paying for some items with credit on Kroger card? (rubbing sleep out of eyes ... be nice to me!)

...no it is not a one of the other situation. The cashier just jumped the gun and ASSUMED you wanted to use it. That is the problem with self-checkout sometimes. They just have that scanner thing in hand and don't even look at you when it beeps half the time.

...I had $40 for new RX's on my card and was at self-checkout to pay for three papers. The scanner beeped when it came to my total and guy was on other side and asked a person at the nearest self checkout to him if he wanted to use his RX discount...I piped and in and said " You mean my RX?" Then he looks at his scanner and realizes it was my stand that beeped. Poor guy that he said it to, thought he had a discount coming to him! Sorry buddy!

...I clearly said "NO" I didn't want to use it, was waiting to swipe my card and he put it through anyway!

...I think the biggest problem with this is that in order for them to scan your coupons they have to press subtotal, once you do that it prompts for the RX money...and you will not get the prompt again if you say no and then have your q's scanned which can lead to a negative OOP.

...what I mean...since it is 2 am and this probably doesn't make sense..

...I had a total of $35 before Q's..it prompts for RX discount, I say yes, it takes off $25 and then they scan your Q's...mine were more than the $10 I had left to pay leaving me with a negative balance. I give this example because it happened to me and they had to give it back to me on a gift card.

...so in answer to your question...yes you can use both but the discount always comes before q's instead of other way around. Silly I know...but that has been my experience that we can't get q's entered before discount prompt.

    Hi.

I am not in your region, but I can tell you about my experience with this.

I just tell the cashier at the u-scan as soon as I walk up that I have the $25 on my card, but I do not want to use it. I then hand the cashier my coupons even before I start to scan my items.

For me, the best way to handle this is to go through the regular checkout line when I have the $25 on my card. I seem to have better control of what is happening with my order.

thx for all of your replies. I guess first thing is, I'll ask to put the balance on an actual giftcard. if that's a no go, i'll go through a reg. line. I currently have 15.xx left, so does that mean, i need to say NO in regards to using it til i have an order that's going to come out OVER 15.00 AFTER Q's?

I don't think they'll put it on a gc, always put mine on my kroger card.

You have $15 left. If you go through a line and your order is $8 after coupons, they should ask you if you want to redeem your pharmacy redemption $$ and if you say yes, the $8 should come off and you pay nothing. It will show you still have $7 left on your receipt.

I would think your first order worked out the same way, you just got cash back instead of money on your card, so basically same difference right?

no, after the RX is applied to my total, it would'nt take my q's because of course, i then had a 0.00 ticket balance. At the same time, they told me that once i hit "pay now" or whatever, it prompts them to ask me if i want to use the RX. if i do, it's done, transaction over. if i say NO, in order to use my q's, they say they have no way of THEN applying my RX balance. I thought i was going to be able to do it the way you just described but apparently not.:shrug7:

I meant since you went to custy service and gave them your q's........ and got cash back, right??

Also, once the cashier hit NO on redeeming but I wanted to. They had to call a csm over and she was able to find it with her key. Sometimes the cashiers have NO CLUE what it is, if not always ask for a manager to come over and find it for you. They can still bring it back!

so i just spoke to CS and wanted to pass it along incase someone else finds themselves in the same situation.

She said that when you have a RX credit attached to your kroger card, do NOT go through self scan. That the reg. registers have more buttons/options lol.

she said to do your transaction in this order...

    1. let them scan all your items

    2. give them your q's (she said if they ask for your card before q's explain that you have a RX credit but don't want it applied til after q's)

3.give them your card, when they scan it, it will then give the option to apply your RX credit

if cashier has issues, they key sequence they need to use is

    clear
    override
    enter
