Default Still Struggling with Kroger

I can get great deals at CVS and Wags, but I am still struggling to really lower my grocery bill. I just am at a loss of what else to do. Any thoughts/suggestions/comments???

Are you product/brand loyal or will you buy anything?

I don't buy a lot of the stuff that is in the ads, but I do get some great deals on meats at kroger. My stores markdown on Mon/Tues, so find out when your store marks down their meats.

Grocery was hard for me too, I had cvs and wags down for months and months and then slowly the groceries started.

No, I will buy and do buy whatever I can that is on sale. I guess because I don't have alot stockpiled yet, and what I did have got ruined in the hurricane. This is just our biggest expense as far as purchases and since I will still be needing to buy formula for hte next 9 months, I want to cut down what I can you know?

Kroger is just to overpriced and even with coupons it's not that great of a deal.
I'll only go there for free or near free stuff.. soap, tp or the occasional sale item. I don't think I could go and do my weekly shopping there.

I understand... our fridge has been empty lately also b/c of all the food loss. Just gotta start bringing stuff back slowly! U can do it, it just won't happen overnight. What kind of formula do you buy? I have been seeing tons of formulas on clearance lately. 2 of my kroger have earths best organic cans for 9bucks, enfamil and similac---but not sure what types they are were also on clearance.

Hopefully the kroger ad will start perking back up and giving us better deals

As far as formula, I know that when I was at one pediatrician appointment for my daughter I asked about formula and our doctor gave me a card to send into the formula company for a free can. When I received it, I was shocked to find a CASE of formula on my front doorstep. There were 4-5 large cans of it in the box.

It is always worth asking your doctor if they have any samples or know of freebees that you could get from the manufacturer.

Good luck!

I have noticed the same thing with Kroger, but with double and triple coupons on certain items, who is better? I have not been to Walmart in a while, since couponing actually, I'm wondering if I should go back with my coupons? Any suggestions?

I have also had a really rough time bringing down the grocery bill.
I've found that it's hard to find coupons for things that are healthy and that I get can the DBF to eat. Additionally, most of the coupons that come out are for name brand things that cost more with coupon than the store brand does regularly (Sucess Brown Rice, for example).

I hear about a lot of people bringing down their grocery bills substantially and while I've run into a few good deals, I haven't been able to do it consistently.

I'm not sure where all of you live, but I have found that I can't limit myself to just one store. I have to shop several stores in order to build a stock pile. For instance, in my area, we have Kroger and Albertson's. By shopping only for the deals of the week at each store, I have built a nice little stock pile for very little OOP. Also, I do multiple repeats of the deals.

There are 5 people in our household, so I buy 5 double packs of the paper each week. This gives me 10 inserts to work from. When an item is a Free/Good price, I will use as many coupons as I have in order to get as much as a can for free/dirt cheap.

There are some items that I have more than a years supply of, such as BBQ sauce, Ketchup, peanut butter, A-1 etc.

It takes time to build a stock pile and it's with the stockpile that you really see the savings because you aren't having to buy items that you would normally buy.

For the formula question, also ask your doctor if they have formula checks for it. Alot of times they are just lazy and don't put them out. You have to ASK!
Don't be afraid to also email the companies and they will send formula checks. These are a great savings tool.
