Will these work on gas purchases? if so, I will be buying either a $300 or $600 to get the extra 10% bonus.

Yes, you can use the Kroger gift cards to purchase gas. You can't pay at the pump, you will need to go to the attendant window.

Also, Kroger informed us on Saturday that if you know you are going out to eat, or say shopping at Old Navy etc and know ~how much you might be spending, you should stop by Kroger on your way and buy a gift card for that place. The gift cards purchased at Kroger(excluding money cards-ie American Express, Kroger, Visa) count toward the fuel discount.

Ex: You are planning on going to Chilis tonight and you know your bill will be ~$25 bucks. If Kroger is on the way, stop by and pick up a $25 gift card for Chilis and you have earned $25 toward the $100 spent to get 10c off per gallon for your next fill up.

This is a great idea! I'm planning on getting a gift card just to get the 10%. I usually buy 300 worth of food anyway......but hopefully with coupons I'll be making it last a little longer.

If you have a credit card that gives 5% back at grocery stores, this makes it even better!!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I get much worse gas per gallon with Kroger gas. About 14 mpg vs. 16 mpg so I lose almost 2 gallons of gas per fill up with Kroger fuel. 2 gallons of gas costs more than the 1.70 I save on the initial fill up. Just thought I would throw that out there for those of us watching the pump prices in horror!

Here's another question. I see the bonus 10% excludes alcohol, tobacco, and the like. I tried to get gift cards with the Kroger gc the other day and I wasn't able to. Has anyone else gotten say a $300 (or higher) Kroger gc and used that to purchase a different gc? I can't find the rules so I am not trying to defraud anyone. I just want to know the exclusions and if I should have been able to purchase other gcs or not. Thanks!
