Free Pepperoni at Kroger!

I went to Kroger today to buy my mom a gift card and some other things. As an impulse, I decided to buy some pepperoni. I decided to buy the Kroger brand ($3.49) since it was 30 cents cheaper and an ounce more than the Hormel brand. I went to self-checkout and the pepperoni rang up for $3.79. I told the clerk about the price difference and she had someone go check. The other clerk, that had gone to check the price, then went and voided the pepperoni. I then expected her to change it to the correct price, but she walked off instead. I rang up the pepperoni again to see if maybe she corrected the price and the correct price would ring up, but nope, still $3.79. I go up to the original clerk and ask her what's going on. She gets the clerk that voided my purchase and the that clerk told me I got the item for free since it rang up wrong. What?! That was great news to hear. I never knew they had this policy in place. Now, I'll make sure my fiance knows about the policy so he won't just shrug off paying the wrong price.

I love that policy. I had a great big piece of salmon that I ended up getting for free because it didn't ring up for the price on the sign.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to PetSmart to use up my $7 Nutro ip's. They had the holistic for $9.99. Got up to the register & they rang up $22. The manager went back to look & an employee had mixed up the sales tags. She honored the mistake, so I ended up getting $44 worth of dog food for $5.

I also love this policy. One time I was buying some of the markdowns they have in the meat department. While she was scanning my items, I was putting the rest of my groceries up and grabbing my coupons so I didn't notice what was going on. The cashier didn't ring up the mark down sticker price, she scanned the regular label. I ended up with a whole lot of meat for free. The customer service lady hated it, but it is thier policy.

At Kroger, I had 3 boxes of cereal (yes, all three!) for free and recently 2 lbs. of cod which rang up $2.00 (!!!) more per lb. than what was advertised. It was an ordeal at the customer service desk because they tried to tell me that the cod in offer was another cod in the freezer (despite there was no cod in the freezer). No, I insisted, it said in the ad that the cod was from the seafood counter and PREVIOUSLY frozen. Finally, they got it straight and I took home my free cod. All I wanted was the right price which was advertised, but I really enjoyed the freebie.

By the way, I have noticed this so many times that items ring up wrong. I see it very often with produce not being marked down for the new ad. I am checking my receipt very carefully, also in regards to the coupons used. Last time I had a coupon for a free tub of Cottonelle which was 2.79 at Kroger, but the coupon rang up as $1.99. I complained and received my 80 cents plus tax. Ingles also has this policy, if something rings up wrong, it's free. But they restrict it to one item. So, if 4 items ring up wrong, they adjust 3 and give you only one free. Still a good store policy which should actually teach the ones who work on the computers, to do their job right.

Can someone tell me if this policy is supposed to be honored by all Kroger stores?
On a separate occasion, I went to a different Kroger for something and the price rang up wrong, and the cashier just changed the price to the correct price.

I think this holds true for most stores. In my experience tho it's just one like item. If you purchase three of something you only get one free, but hey one free is good!

K-mart used to be notoriuos for wrong prices. My sister has gotten a free artifical Christmas tree and a few other high ticketed items.
